A wonderful story of love lost and love gained, that perseverance is its own reward. That reinventing oneself after a tragedy opens up a future of possibilities!

Response from the author:

Thank you so much for this beautiful review. Your words capture the heart of what the story set out to explore—how love can be both a wound and a doorway, how perseverance reshapes us, and how tragedy can become the soil for unexpected beginnings. I’m truly grateful that these themes resonated with you and that you felt the arc of loss, renewal, and possibility. Your reflection is a gift, and it means more than you know.

This story starts off sadly, but don't let that put you off.

John loses his partner Adam, who dies from Aids and he wonders if there is any hope left in the world for him.

His friend Ethan comes along and helps John get over his grief. With Ethan's John is soon painting again.

Read on to discover a story that is full of love, friendship, good food and fantastic places to live.

Comes highly recommended.

Response from the author:

Thank you so much for this thoughtful and generous review. You captured the emotional arc of the story with such clarity—the early sorrow, the quiet question of whether hope can return, and the way friendship becomes a lifeline back to creativity and life itself. I’m deeply grateful that John’s journey, Ethan’s steady presence, and the warmth of art, food, and chosen family resonated with you. Your recommendation means a great deal, and your words shine a light on exactly what the story hoped to offer: that even after profound loss, there are still places of beauty waiting to be found.
