   (4 reviews)
Sub-genres: Adventure, Werewolves

Frankie was often misunderstood in the public eye. So imagine his surprise when someone unexpected can keep up with his warped mind. All he had to do was take a vacation.

Submission for the 2024 Prompt Team Event.

PT Prompt #79:

You are hiking through the woods when you encounter a wooden sign with the following words written in red, dripping paint:  I’d turn back if I were you.  Do you turn back or continue on the path?  If you continue, what do you encounter?

It seems Robert frost was on to something after all...

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review, doc!

I was always a goody-two-shoes Boy Scout. Always took the proper path. Now, as an adult, I'm tempted to go on the path less traveled. For... Well... Reasons...

Pretty good story, the MC feels like he's neurodivergent and lives in the past with references to I Love Lucy and Dick van Dyke, staples of the 1960s.

The werewolf and neurodivergent human interplay was fun.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review, W_L!!

Hi, hello, it's me. The neurodivergent person whose childhood was spent watching M*A*S*H* reruns. I even grew up in an itty-bitty town that was waaaaay too much like Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show.

After being worked to the bone, Frankie goes on a vacation only to come across quite the surprise on his self-imposed adventure. Read on and remember that true friends can be found at the oddest times, and in the most unexpected of places!

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review, BendtedWreath! (Also, I love your username. Gave me a great giggle!)

It's always great to meet new friends. I only hope I won't meet my next friend in the same manner as this story's setting...
