Cailen's Poem Archive - 12. Dream Journal: Entry 001

A series of shorts from real dreams I had, which I then made into poems.

Floating in blackness, pinpricks of light floating around me

Dancing, as I float alone in the void, I reach out

They pass through me, and I feel empty

There once was a dream here, there once was love

But the dream has left me empty, and I am grasping at the light

I don’t know what happened, it was there

But suddenly it was gone

I look out into the void and try and see your face, but I can not

I long to hear your voice, but I am broken with unbearable silence

I shout your name but there is no answer

I cry and my heart cry’s out and my whole being calls to you

The small pinpricks of light suddenly flow together and I am clinging to a tree

The wind rips wildly around me and I am in a great storm looking into woods

I look down and I see you sleeping

I reach down but the wind blows me away

You look up and I see your eyes one last time

And then I awake, and there is a hole where you should have been.

I’m gasping like I cannot breathe and I touch my face and feel tears

And even awake I see the pinpricks of light, every time I close my eyes
