Cailen's Poem Archive - 11. The Attempt
Falling into the dark oblivion, night blacker than poets dread
Pinpricks travel down my skin, knife glowing against the red
The rain falling from the sky, stinging against my tears
Washing away the pain struck down, of a thousand years
The flowing blackness rushes past and travels down my skin
I wonder if the same thoughts traveled, with my fellow kin
I look deep into the blackness past, and my soul release a cry
In all my pain and suffered life, at last I’m free to die
I feel my strength now leaving me, and I unclasp my hand
The blade striking against the ground sounds on porcelain sand
I close my eyes and settle in, the pain begins to seep
I await sweet deaths eternal, in the comforting arms of sleep
I open my eyes from a deep slumber, stinging in the light
The pain returns and my fists clench, struggling to fight
I look up into grey eyes tired; a hand over mine is sewn
I close my eyes and fall back asleep, knowing I’m not alone
