Sixteen-year-old Richard plans to come out to his parents - as he's in love with his best friend Nicholas - but his parents have a shocking surprise of their own. When he turns to Nicholas for support, it turns out Nicholas has a surprise for Richard too...

I originally put this story on here around 7 years ago but I have made a lot of updates to it, so decided to republish. Enjoy!

Quirky characters, vile characters, liberal lashings of humour, teenage angst and quite unconventional family structures. Throw in plenty of alcohol for several of the characters, a pompous school principal, a stuffy and ancient school board, and one batshit crazy art teacher, and you have Self-Portraits. 

Read it and rage, read it and laugh and read it and contemplate.

Not your typical coming out story.

We have interesting family structures, friends, boyfriends, a pompous school head, plenty of alcohol for the adults and a fair few headaches. Oh I forgot to mention the art teacher and interesting views.

Add all of these together and you have a self-portrait.

Give it a read you will not be disappointed.
