Songs in T-Minor - 3. Pinocchio

‘didn’t you say he was gay?’

‘yes.’

‘then why would he flirt with you?’

and i know that wasn’t meant to be hurtful

she doesn’t really know what she said

but she dismissed out of hand the idea

that a man who likes men could like me

and i laughed it away

shrugged and smiled sheepishly

thought, it’s fine, she’s right, it’s okay

she just said what I think anyway

why would he like me if he’s gay?

and it’s not that I want him to like me that way

i just want to feel real

but the voice in my head says,

‘go home, pinocchio

you’ll never be a real boy.’

So true. You have expressed it brilliantly. Shame that you have to go trough this.

Thank you. It feels like it should be such a minor thing, just someone who doesn't get it, but... it adds up to a lot in the end.
