Songs in T-Minor - 1. Mother Knows Best

she thinks i need more

resistance

thinks everyone’s cheering me on

and i need someone to tell me

that this isn’t me

as though i don’t doubt it

every day

wonder if i’m wrong

wonder if i’m making a mistake

wonder if they’re right

the ones that say it’s a fad

the ones that say we’re making it up

the ones that say i’m not

man enough, not

trans enough

she thinks i haven’t thought it through

but that’s the point

thinking it through

figuring it out

trying it on for size

i hope she’ll understand some day

i hope she’ll realise that

i really am doing this for me

understand that this is me

just me

Sometimes you need a doubting voice. But now you need one of unconditional reassurance and support. Your poem conveys this deep need so clearly. You’re not alone.

Not everyone is going to understand.

Don't let that derail your journey.  Be who you're meant to be.

I had a friend many years ago who converted to Judaism. It's a process that took seven (7) years -- and she'd been practicing for almost that long after.  Her mom still called it "a phase."

Try not to listen the doubting voices -- either the external ones, or the more insidious ones that whisper in your own mind. Be who you know you are meant to be; and know that there are those who love and support you, even if only through a keyboard.

Thank you Wayne, and thanks for listening to me on Hangouts earlier, too. I appreciate you. ❤️

Thank you, Fae. ❤️ I think in a way it would be easier for her if I just went ahead and did all the things. She’d be concerned and upset still, but she’d also have some kind of peace. But I’m not ready yet. I haven’t made up my mind about it all, and that’s okay too.

I can't exactly understand what you are feeling/going through. I would like to think I  could be empathetic. I do believe "To your own self be true. Thou canst not then be false to any man." Because it's Mom, that makes it harder. At least it would be for me. Your poem does a good job explains your feelings. I am sure you have people who support you.

I do, thankfully. Both online and irl, and both friends and family. I'll keep muddling on, don't worry. :) Thanks for taking the time to read and comment!
