Another excellent story, and follow up book to the first in the series. Well written, and thought out, it kept a good pace. However, it ends on a cliffhanger. If you read the series, just on this site, then you are left wanting more.

However, the series continues with 3 more books on another site called "CRVBOY". (Five-stars for this story... Two-Stars for having readers go search for followup books.)

I loved this series. In addition to the books here and the ones mentioned in the other review, there’s a “prequel” at:

http://www.crvboy.org/stories/cpl/s009/p00.html

My only complaints are that it needed some major proofreading and we were left hanging with what seemed to be an obvious setup for the next book but since the most recent one was posted in 2009 after the others were done in regular succession, it’s unlikely that the author will continue. He has written another series since this one but I’m hesitant to read it out of fear of being left hanging again.

Response from the author:

To be fair, I was involved in a Train crash that left me crippled and in a wheelchair. rehab  and recovery being what they are, and my health sliding into a critical situation finally stabalizing a year ago. I apologize for not finishing this series.

I have parts of the final book written, but a lot of time has passed and I don't know - feel confident - I can pick up where I left off with it. I don't think I could do the final chapter of this series the justice the rest of it deserves, not considering how much I have changed as a person since writing it.

I started this series twenty years ago, now. My head, thought process, and emotions are very very different.

I humbly ask forgiveness for this vanity.

I truly loved the first book in this series; and I guess maybe some time far in the future, I might attempt the other book on the crvboy.org site, but honestly unsure about that.

If I could give this zero stars I would.  I honestly felt like another author wrote the first book compared to this one.  The writing and the flow were nothing like the first book.  The characters acted in totally bizarre ways compared to their actions in the first book.

I did not do a recommendation above; and I felt there was not one area that I could recommend with this book.

I believe either chapter eight or nine was the last chapter comment I made for this book; that was because it just got worse with each chapter.  I really felt bad even giving the chapters a credit with either a comment or a like, etc.

Just so truly disappointed.

Response from the author:

That is fair. I think the character that most changed was Elias and a lot LOT of people disliked the change that occoured with the character. He was, by far, the most beloved character of the fans of this series. When the original book was written, he was to die... not a wise choice for a writer, but I didn't know at the time HOW beloved he was.

This caused a claw back as a writer never a good thing. I tried to evolve the character and given it was written at the time as episodic chapters... VERY difficult. It was after this book that I decided to write FULL books before release to allow me to get a better grip on consistency. I was a younger man, and still learning the craft, so mistakes were inevitable.

I think I found the character's voice again, keeping him constant through the rest of the series, but that is for you to judge. I hope you gave the rest of the books a try, but understand if you did not.

Again I am sorry that my health prevented me from going further with  these books.
