Love Letters To Nobody - 2. Chapter 2
A crackle.
The cone of light focused on my two-bit study table, illuminating the knick-knacks splayed across its surface. My laptop sat unfolded, glaring at me with its blue light.
I trained my eyes back onto the words that seemed to litter the page of the book that was currently propped open with one hand, its contents seemingly less interesting with each passing moment. I sat my now bland piece of literature down and let myself drown in my turbulent thoughts.
A crackle.
My room came tumbling into focus once more. I noticed an abused slip of paper in my hand being methodically creased over and over again: a fold in half, then half of that, and half of that too. I unfurled it to reveal the wrinkled surface, stained with coffee in the corner, the material thin from wear, its edges frayed, but the transcription no less bold.
I sighed as I picked up my phone.
A crackle.
Scrunched up in my fist, I aimed for the wastepaper basket. A smile crept across my lips as the tiny ball dropped into the bin. I picked my phone up and propped my head against the headboard.
