Chapter 4 of True As It Can Be Live- Thoughts from Author

Well Chapter 4 should be live now Here some thoughts on a very revealing chapter: -As a reader, I personally believe that side-characters' stories need to be developed alongside main characters, they impact the flow of plot and develop the main characters. As such, any named character I've added to this story will have a background story. -Paki's background for those who have not done a quick google search for Pretoria is the second capital city of South Africa. He was using Xhosa

Chapter 3 of True As It Can Be

Chapter 3 is now live and I should shed some light on a few things: 1. If it's not apparent by the end of the chapter, Brad is not as crass or crude as he may seem. Beneath his psychological and physical issues, he's actually a very intelligent and strategic guy. He's pushing for Beau to stay in the house to protect him for more than the stereotypical "you're my future boyfriend" angle in romance fiction. He's fine with Beau not wanting him and still wanting to protect him from Gary. Beau i

My new story and some thoughts as I experiment

Well for those people who follow my writing, book reviews, and stories, you probably noticed I started a new series, True As It Can Be, a story inspired by the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. I have read the classic fairy tale La Belle et la Bête in high school french class, along with watching the Jean Cocteau 1946 french film and 1991 Disney animated movie. Everyone has seen or heard of the classic, most of the folks probably have seen the Disney version as kids like me. How

What I am up to in August 2021

Well, I put the Mainstream book review series on hiatus after finishing off my reviews with the classic Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. Some readers may wonder, why did I stop? Well like I noted, I think I overdid it with my daily reviews. I gave too much content for interested readers to read, it became a daily newsletter email. Book reviews should be fun or neat things that give readers guideposts for certain things, if they are preparing to purchase a new book for reading. I read

Inspired to write by an object of past love

I am churning out a bunch of new story premises and I really don't know which one to pursue. Currently I have 4 stories in review, 3 fan-fictions and 1 Original adventure fantasy story. I can't stop writing or else I will lose my muse and focus, but I am going in several different directions. Today, I sent my 4th new story, an original story inspired by a pendant I found in my drawers. The pendant was given to me by one of my first boyfriends, luis, he worked at Dunkin Donuts and I enjoyed

Some thoughts about my Micro-fiction story

I never write micro-fiction, short stories around or under 1,000 words. It's very hard to create a story that I want to write, while reducing details down. Even a single chapter of my shorter stories are usually around 2-3K words. This was a real challenge for me and I am glad I tried to write less. I called my story Reverberations, because I wanted to show how events shape us and how we grow up from these events. I took the idea of Pride similar to others and wanted to create a retros

Gay Book Review: Kick at the Darkness by Keira Andrews

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25543022-kick-at-the-darkness (Warning Spoilers ahead in my review) There's something about Zombies that fascinates people to write social commentary in their story. I guess the idea of a group of mindless merciless beings that consume the flesh of normal human beings or worse converts them into one of them has a lot of application to things such as consumerism, human exploitation, political satire, and "mob mentality". I enjoy well written Zombie st

Just posted a new short story, Never Ending Struggle

Well, I have my old editor and I am writing again Today, I present for those who enjoy short stories of 5K words or less, Never Ending Struggle It's not a massive story with heavy plots or complex characters, it's just a straight forward slice of life story. I approach modern life and its issues with honest reflection in here. I highlight facts people don't think about from the lower paying and grinding work of teaching assistants, known as Paraprofessionals. That stuff is quit

New Story idea and updated Editor/Beta request

As it appears, there was very little interest in an old school Wilderness survival story, I've discontinued work on it. It will just go into my pile of abandon story ideas. Even so, I have just updated my request for editor/beta reader based on a new concept: Modern Romance Fiction editor/beta request thread I got inspired by a question in my mind after reading a few more Romance gay stories: What happens next? Then, I reflect on my own life and wonder, would I have ended up

Fifth and Final Story of Comforting Touch Series: Hearth Keepers

Comforting Touch Story #5 Hearth Keeper It is now live Some General Observations from this Author: 1. The series came out much better than I had ever imagined, I had originally conceived it as a one-off with Finding Warmth, but it just kept writing itself throughout December 2020. 2. I've learned a good deal about myself during the writing of this story, which, for those who know me, is about 60% factual and 40% fiction. It's a lot easier to write based on reality. I realized

Fourth Story in Comforting Touch Series Live!

The Fourth Story is now live in Comforting Touch series:   Relationships aren't fairy tales in real life and more often than not, there's a good amount of complications between even the most committed lovers. How you deal with it is what defines who you are and who your lover is in relation to issues and conflicts. Maybe to some readers, what happened to Jason in Fanning Flames is off-putting, being given alcohol and drugs to make you more pliable for sexual intercourse is a comm

Writing and focus on disabled gay characters

Well just to make it clear for people who do not know, I suffer from Congenital Glaucoma, I was born with bad eyesight, and am legally blind with very low vision. One thing I've learned as I read stories, there really isn't much diversity or representation of people with disabilities in various gay fiction genres. People like me exist throughout the world in various forms; for instance, my last boyfriend was deaf, but it very hard for me to find any kind of story that reflect that kind of relati

Comforting Touch Story #3 Fanning Flames is live

So the next story in the Comforting Touch series is live now: Fanning Flames The story goes into areas I rarely explore in the past. It was an interesting exercise. One area that people might have caught on from last story, I think the best way to describe my sex scenes in this story is with one word, Sensuality. Using your hands, your nose, and your tongue is just as important to the experience as any other area. While Sexuality is what many people like to describe in both h

Gay Romance Book Reviews: HIM, US, and EPIC by Sarina Bowen

My taste in Gay Romance novels made me wonder, why no one has ever done any reviews of well-known and established Male/Male novels on GA. Well, I'll break that mold. I have a lot of respect for Sarina Bowen, especially after reading her 2.5 novel series about these 2 guys, who are given a second chance at love. She writes it with a bit of integrity, a bit of nuance, and believable realism. Also, the Hockey being played in the background is very good, (I was one of GA's last NHL bracket cham

Finishing a 70K+ Word story in a month- Personal thoughts on the writing process

With the 5th and final story in the series with @Talo Segura, my beta and editor. I am thinking now of what I have accomplished in such a short period of time. I am surprised I had the energy, the motivation, and the stamina to write a 70K+ word story series like, Comforting Touch even after 4 years of hiatus from writing in general. I know my writing style is imperfect, my prose is too long for easy digestion at 13-16K words per short story within a series of 5 stories, and obviously

Story update and personal thoughts on Demisexuality and Disability

Today, I posted 2 short stories in a new series, my first in 4 years. Comforting Touch is the combination of an idea I received from a vivid dream after Thanksgiving and my own life experiences. I admit I am very rusty at writing nowadays. While I still have ideas and inspiration, I need the patience of a good editor like @Talo Segura For those who have known me or met me from GA, you know who Ben is and if you've ever wondered why he is still single, I think this story will explain it

The hardest chapter to write

This chapter is really hard to write for Book 2 of 0's and 1's, so I will share with readers its problem:   I feel like I can't skip an important event, but if I write it, I am never going to hear the end of it.   This will mark probably the darkest chapter I have ever written, maybe one of the darkest chapters on GA. I am making sure the guidelines are followed, nothing graphic or explicit, but the implication is more than enough with a dark imagination. And to top it all of

One of the Funniest Christmas Comedy moments

Youtube's random suggestions just gave me a reminder to one of the funniest Christmas inspired TV moments.   Advisory, if you love Santa Claus, don't watch this clip, but if you love to laugh at Always Sunny in Philadelphia's warped type of humor, watch it:

LGBT Movie Review: Shared Rooms

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote a movie review and I got the writing bug again, so I felt like reviewing a movie I recently saw.   Shared Rooms is the gay man's answer to a hallmark movie for elderly audiences around Christmas. I know some of you will call me a whimsical fool for picking this movie out of hundreds of more deserving LGBT features from festivals to alternative media web series, but I really enjoyed this movie.   It's a narrative story of disconnected

A Lesson in Basics

Confucius' philosophy and my views have differences in social organization and morality, but in terms of government organization, and the role of leaders in a nation, I am probably one of his deepest disciples.   I am going to paraphrase a Chinese question and its dialogue:   A question in the Confucian Dialectics is asked among Confucius scholars that is both broad and narrow: How does one "know" what they are doing is right for a nation?   Student 1: "One does not

Horror films and being a Gay man

Like many horror fans, I am awaiting Ridley Scott's return to Aliens Franchise with Aliens: Covenant. It is a highly anticipated film for horror junkies, while I did enjoy "Split" with is psycho horror, I am still a fan of hybrid Sci-Fi/horror genre. Dead Space will remain a favorite game of mine.   I love getting scared a bit, then finding a hand to hold preferably a boyfriend's hand, and then later on release the stress of the experience in a fun way   That made me think ab
