Do book websites help?

blog-0951860001424030122.jpgI am a first time author and am looking for some help. I have created a website for my new book (my first one), Skeletons Of A Murder. I would like to have users go to the website http://www.skeletonsofamurder.info and read the Home page, the Prolog page, and the others if interested. Let me know what you think. Does the site generate any interest in reading the book? Is the site organized in such a manner as to be easy to use? Does any page need additions, deletions, corrections? Does reviewing the site interest you to the point of wanting to go to the sales page on Kindle to find out more about the book? Do you think the site is of any value in promoting the book? 98 views and 1 response, my own!  It would appear that "websites promoting a book" is not a popular topic.  While I am able to track the number of hits on my site and the number of hits on a specific page (More Information on Kindle page), there is no way, that I am aware of, that allows me to determine how many of my book sales are a result of the website.  I was hoping a few authors might offer some advice or experience regarding using a website to promote a book.  Am I the only one trying this avenue?
