Interesting derivation. Brummagem is an alteration of Birmingham (England), which had become notorious in the 17th century for the counterfeit coins made there.

Brum - shortened version; also colloquial name for the city

Brummie - folk from the city; also the accent (Ozzie Osbourne :lol:)

I think that the Brummies still tend to call it their home Brummagen. Certainly most of the ones that I know do.
