What a letdown!  All this time I thought Apple Jack was Johnny Appleseed's boyfriend.

Oh well!  Does this mean if I drink an applejack each day it will keep the doctor away?

Applejack... Applejack...

Applejack was the trigger word for Kurt Russell's character in The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes to begin reciting the bad guy's illegal gambling receipts.

I've only heard of that because my mother saw it as a kid.  Though, when I checked for her, it was indeed available on Disney+.  Not sure if it is still there...

It's also in TCM's library of films. They show it now and then.

Calvados is another name for apple brandy.

At one time apple brandy was looked down on as a drink for peasants.

Is that what my kids were getting when they ate Apple Jacks cereal from Kellogg?  No wonder they could act so goofy sometimes.

My dear friend who bought a 1790s farm in Kent, CT (they became only the farm's second owner in the 1970s) told me the traditional way to make applejack in New England is to let the season's apple cider freeze outdoors with the first hard snow. In the morning, fish out the ice, and the rest is pure applejack (the alcohol doesn't freeze).
