And some stories have had seismic repercussions for the time they were written.  Take Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair for example.  

The first round draft pick for any NFL team can cause a seismic shift in their fortunes. Whether it's for good or ill will always be a gamble. Sometimes your 7th round pick might turn out better than the 1st pick in the 1st round.
