Words beginning with 'ir' tend to have a negative to them.

Never name a kid Irving or Irma.

People that act 'holier than thou' or seem to think they 'know more than anyone else' tend to be irascible when confronted or questioned.

In those situations core beliefs are being challenged, no matter how silly those beliefs might be. There are still those who maintain the Earth is flat despite the evidence otherwise.

I can be irascible at times... Who am I kidding? I'm irascible most of the time. You kids git off my lawn!
