The modern Southerner is a bizarre dichotomy: on the one hand, he's a truck driving, deer hunting, beer swilling redneck and on the other, he is an educated, modern man who barbecues on Saturdays and worships in the Holy Church of Southeastern Conference football.

I can't wrap my head around this question... Can irony be used to describe a dichotomy?
