Waiting stinks ...

Now into week two of my return Stateside ... still nothing ... it sucks when everyone tells you how incredibly marketable you are and will have no trouble finding a job ... and now they say that I probably won't hear from anyone for a few weeks ... at least ... Well, I don't like sitting around ... it totally bites.

But anyway, I've posted a picture of my new car ... the only good thing to come out of this move so far.

I got my new karate uniform in the mail yesterday, along with the patch to put on it (the particular style of karate I do has a very nice, colorful emblem, and I refuse to wear a karate uniform without it ... otherwise, it's just too bland ... and being the gay boy that I am, I NEED some color, dammit!). I also got a couple nice karate weapons when I went into the city the other day. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to buy the really nice ones, 'cause they were too expensive ... but one day ... *sigh*

Writing has been slow. Chapter 24 is about 3/4 finished, and I haven't been in the mood to write for the past few days. But, since the anthology is coming out this weekend, I won't be posting it until around July 29th anyway (sorry!) After consulting with Kitty, I've decided that I'm going to pursue another serial I'm really itching to write when I'm finished with SOOTB, instead of "When I See You Again." However, since the first chapter of that is almost done, I'll probably post that to see if it's worth continuing. The other one that I want to work on, I think, will be pretty good, and I'm looking forward to it.

Anyway, that's about it ... nothing much to report here, except I've been really bored, and the A/C in my parents' house sucks, so it's been very hot. Ugh! My place in Taiwan was cooler than this!

Cheer up!

Having A/C of any variety in the UK is a total luxury. I saw one once.

And the new car too ... Very cool! Looks like it has tinted windows for those 'off the cuff' naughty moments ;) And I'll bet it has AC. I have to drive at 50mph with the windows down to keep cool in my old banger.

I am NOT envious. Nope, not at all ... grrrrrrr.

All in all you're a lucky LB.

LB, nothing comes without a price, waiting is a price. But all good things come in time. Go back to you Buddah teachings and meditate on them. This is nothing new. Believe in what goes around comes around. Maybe Buddist say it differently, but it is still the same idea. You have given of yoursself more than many of use could have ever imagined doing. It will come to you, just be patient . The energy of the world does not pass by those who have consistentley given it positively. You will be rewarded. It is the way of things, but it might not be on your timiming which is the hardest aspect to accept. Believe in fate, believe in love, believe in positive energy and you will be rewarded. Be stead fast, and you will succeed. The universe will show itself when it is ready and I believe that you will be given a gift.

Awesome car, LB. It looks just like you. (Seriously ... it's got your energy all over it :) .)

BTW, I read the news article from the Taipei Times you linked to. A 22-year-old student tells his parents he "might be gay." They poison his drink at the coffeeshop, get him taken to the hospital where he is kept against his will in the psych ward for 56 days, without ever getting a diagnosis from a doctor. The hospital tries to medicate him, which he avoids by spitting out the pills after the nurses leave every night. Then when he finally gets out of the hospital, he gets 3 other psychiatric examinations which all pronounce him normal. Then he sues his parents and the hospital.

And his father says "I can't forgive him for suing a family member."

Hello?

The last sentence of the article said "during the press conference, Huang [politician] called on the government to reflect on whether the process for hospitalizing psychiatric patients was flawed. " You think?

All I've got to say is, people are funny. But then we knew that already.

Hello?

I was shocked when I read that part ... not what the father said, but that the guy actually sued his parents. The concept of "family" is sacred in Chinese culture, far more than we as Americans can possibly imagine. Suing ones parents is quite rare here ... over there, it just doesn't happen. That kid was extremely brave (or maybe really is crazy?) for doing that, as he will probably be ostracized from his entire family for life. I think it's terrible, though, that only a lawsuit has come out of it, and not a criminal investigation against the parents and/or hospital. But the legal system in Taiwan is still highly flawed.

One interesting thing, though, is that Taiwan has been toying with the idea of legalizing gay marriages for a few years now. Just bringing that kind of thing up for debate is a big deal. Both the current president, Chen Shui-bian, and the likely future president, Ma Ying-jeou, are supporters of gay rights. So, it is possible that it could happen sometime in the not too distant future. It would not only be good for gay rights in general, but specifically in Asia ... it would also be an effective political tool for Taiwan to get itself into the international spotlight.

I love your car! :great:

Sorry to hear that the job search is taking a while. That can be so frustrating (I've been in that situation myself, after returning to the US from overseas).

Thanks for the link about the Taiwanese guy who was poisoned and then hospitalized against his will. That's horrifying.

I'm well aware of the cultural Chinese reverence for Family, especially parents, but IMHO that guy is both courageous and justified. If they did indeed do that to him, they aren't family worthy of the term. I share your disappointment that no criminal charges ensued.

Nice wheels!

The only thing I have to offer when interviewing is, let them know how much you need them, then they will realize how much they need you.

It'll happen.

Good luck

LB, do you think you could post something on the form for those of us "newbies" about the summer anthology? I only figured out what it was when Kitty explained it to me. But I think it would be cool, if you posted a string so that we could ask questions of you so we could understand it better. Some of us might be willing to right for the Fall or Winter one if we had some idea what it was about and what it took to do it.

Trying to take your mind off of otherthings. hee hee.

How is your training going? Running of the neighbors yet? I have several friends who have the Rav's and they just love them. They always trade them in for the newer model. I have heard nothing but good reports about them. You did good guy!!!

I agree it is funny in a rather morbid way, but i feel really bad when I think of what that guy must be going through.

LB, The 29th! Longer than I'd hoped but if thats what it takes i'll deal with it. If nothing else GA has taught me a lot about patience  .

LB - it's not you. I am an HR manager for a living. From accepting a resume it may take 2 weeks to run it past all the people involved and schedule a meeting to discuss it. Then checking schedules to find a good day for an interview and add weeks more. etc. etc. etc.

I am moving south soon - and anticipate a little over three months to find my replacement before I go.

It will come with time.

The DC market is tough to find a job in  .... thats why I have found a place to work in the mean time while I finish school. You might consider something out side the DC area....

Good luck hunting.
