I have somewhere to live!

So I suppose it seems like I hardly ever think about this blog anymore considering that I only update it once or twice a month :( . Actually, I always want to update it and have like 10 different entries I want to write, but I never seem to find the time

Anyway, I thought about all the potential things I wanted to write about and decided that in terms of simple information this was the way to go :P (although you should probably skip it if you don't feel like reading a fairly shallow, gushy blog entry)

SOOOO

I found somewhere to live!! :D

I believe I had previously written about trying to decide whether or not to get a roommate, and where to live etc. Well I decided NOT to get the roommate AND last Friday I went apartment shopping with a friend. And guess what? (OK if you can't guess at this point you're really not trying :P:boy: ) I found one!!! :D

It's fantastic! It makes my current place (which I really love BTW) look dreadful in comparison. It's got this really nice patio with this built-in outdoor storage closet thingy. Then you walk in and it's got a hardwood floor entry way (so you don't mess up the carpet with wet feet ;) ). Then downstaires it's got this little half bath (just a toilet and sink) and this awesome living/dining room (which is AT LEAST one and a half times bigger than in my current apartment). Then the kitchen *sigh*, it's got TWO pantries, one of which is a walkin! :D And an open bar (which my current apartment also had - I love those!). So yeah then upstaires it's got a HUGE bedroom! With this really nice, giant window, which has a fairly decent view and is all around fun to look out of since it's on the 2nd floor. It also has two big walk in closets, even bigger than the ones my current place has!! :D:D I LOVE walk in closets, in fact they were my # 1 apartment requirement (kinda a necessity with all my clothes and junk :P ). Anyway then it's also got the bathroom attached which has amazing counter space! The thing I liked least about my current apartment is that it has VERY limited counter space and I use like a million products :*) , BUT no worries with this one :D Also, my tub is bigger!! I hadn't even noticed till my friend pointed it out.

Anyway, it's actually closer to where I work, but MUCH further from the "gay district" where I like to go out, and from where I want to go to school. It's a bit closer to the Galleria though :) (the GIANT Houston Mall). Anyway I timed it and it takes about 25 to 35 minutes in typical Houston "rush hour" traffic to get back to the area where I currently live. Which sounds pretty cruddy, but not in rush hour traffic, particularly later in the evening (such as when I'd be going out), it'll probably only take like 10 to 15 minutes, and assuming I do get into school (my next goal), I *think* I can cut off a lot of the traveling time by taking a series of interstates.

Anyway, it's only 15 dollars more a month than I'm paying now! :2thumbs: PLUS, they decided to waive the pet deposit, and the regular deposit is literally the cheapest one I've ever paid! AND they have a fitness center (joining a gym was on my list already). So anyway I'm pretty stoked about it :D In fact I'm going to see if there's anyway I can get out of my current lease and move in early (of course that would normally seem impossible, but since they're FORCING everyone to move out anyway, maybe they won't mind if a few people want to leave early)

So there's my update, and now I'm going to go have a long soak in the tub while I listen to the new cd I just made. HEHE, and yes there probably will be wine and bubble bath :P:boy: Anyway I'm really hoping to start updating this thing more often.

Take care all and have an awesome day!! :D

That's ... well, awesome, Kevin. :D I am really glad things are working out for you. And truthfully, I'm glad you decided to skip the roommate thing. This way, you can do what you want when you want.

Awww thanks Kitty!!

Yep, that was pretty much my main motivation. I just ultimately decided that at this point in my life I value my independence too much to live with someone I'm not in love with.

Take care and have an AWESOME day :D

Kevin, you new place sounds spectacular! I'm really happy for you! :2thumbs:

I hope you checked out the closets themselves, though; in my first apartment, there was a "walk-in-closet". The first clue that it wasn't quite what one might expect was that the door was only 5' high. The second clue was that is was about 18" wide.

I suppose a very small person could have fit in there, but the coathangers touched in the middle if you used both sides, and it was about as deep as a phone booth. Come to think of it, the bathroom was not much bigger.

Congrats on finding a new place, Kevin! It sounds like you've found yourself a keeper and I am so totally jealous. I'm dying for this last year of Uni to be over so I can get a job and then hopefully a place to myself, because sharing a place with other ppl isn't as great as I thought it would be. Especially after three years (at least at the end of this one - though it feels like more ;) ) and with the same people is like taking a very slow ride to hell.

:2thumbs: Congrats Kevin! That place sounds awesome. Sharing a place with other people really isn't the greatest thing. Especially if you don't even know the others living there very well (like I do about my housemates  ). Hope you can move in fast and have fun with your new tub :*)

WOW! That does sound like a bait and switch! Did you ever confront them about it?

I toured the place and actually I spent quite a bit of time examining the closet (I wish I'd spent more checking out the kitchen, which I barely looked at and now have all kinds of questions about); my friend and I even counted the number of hooks to find out how many things I could hang in each (it's a different, but nice set up. Instead of using a regular bar that you put hangers on there's like a long built in place to hang clothes and they each have an individual hook. This is, they tell me, to prevent your clothes from squishing together.) Anyway there's plenty of hanging room and there's even room to hang a regular bar if I don't like the individual hook method. :D

Take care and have an awesome day!!! :D

Aww thanks :)

Wow, I totally know what you mean! I had roommates the first two years of college. The first year everything was GREAT, and we were all super close and had alota fun together. Then the next year we added a 4th person and it completely changed the dynamic. I stayed friends with one of them, but the other two....well after we finally all parted ways I saw them once more and we haven't seen or spoken to each other since. *sigh*

Anyway, I hope you end on better terms with your roommates, and I also hope you do find somewhere terrific to live when you do move out! :D

WOW! I can't imagine living with people I don't know!! That must be really awkard! I guess that's a quick way to get to know someone though! How long have you lived with them? Do you seem to be liking them and getting along pretty well?

 I sure hope everything works out!

Yeah, I can't wait to play in my new tub lol! :boy:

Hehe, nope, not homeless, just worried about BECOMING homeless!! Unfortunately my current apartment complex refused to let me out of my lease so that I could move into the other place early. However, I haven't completely given up, I asked over the phone, I'm going to go in in person tomorrow and throw as much charm and persuasion as I can at the manager. Probably won't work, but you can't blame me for trying :boy:

Have an awesome day and take care!! :D
