This is NOT a recording

So I'm sitting at work minding my own business, doing my mountains of paperwork and pondering which report I want to work on next when the phone rings:

Me: "(Company name)"

Guy: "Hi?"

Me: "Hi"

Guy: "Are you a recording?"

Me: "Um, no"

Guy: "Are you sure?"

Me: "Yes, I'm sure."

Guy: "Really?"

Me: "Yeah, I'm a person."

Guy: "Well you sound like a recording."

I've never had to argue to convince someone I wasn't an automated message before. I'm kinda hoping I'm not in that situation again either.

I think that blog entry was a computer-generated vignette. I don't think you really wrote it yourself. :P

I'd laugh, but that's happened to me before. More than once.

Actually, just the being mistaken for a recording has happened to me. People have been willing to take my word for it so far. I'd have to guess that whoever was calling was attempting to flirt with you, because I'd hate to live in a world where a rational person would ask "Are you sure?" to a potential A.I..

Poor Kevin, I never pictured you with a monotone voice :(

 I wouldn't have been able to resist messing with him.

Guy: "Are you a recording?"

Me: "Why yes, yes I am. Good of you to pick up on that. Most callers think I'm a real person."

I can't help it...I have a really warped mind.

Lol. I doubt I could resist saying something like that either. I've watched too much Golden Girls. :)

Kevvers, some recording voices are cute. ;)

James - Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that! How entrepreneurial of you!

Mark - I did too! :o

Gabe - Glad I'm not alone in this at least! :boy:

Vic - I do not have a monotone voice!

Sharon - Haha! That would have been great!

Corvus - It is funny, but I usually try to keep my tongue sheaved at work. Keeps me out of trouble :boy:

Krista - The Golden Girls is great! :great:

Awesome, Now I know who's been calling me about a fabulous deal to refinance my home loan.

Thank Kevin, you're the best, now where's my wads of cash.

Couldn't possibly have been me! Everyone knows I'd never use the word "fabulous" anyway! 0:)

I misread your statement and thought you said you kept your tongue "shaved" at work. That takes our forum talk about pubic shaving in a whole different direction. :P

LOL! Honestly, I don't even bother to shave my face before going to work most days, yet alone my tongue!
