Listening and Scars

Recommended Posts

Scars

The scars on my heart

Can never be healed

Can never be soothed.

They stay

And show the hurt and pain

I have endured.

I hide them

Behind a mask

Made of smiles and laughs.

Can you see these scars?

Can you see the hurt that caused

These unhealed scars?

Can you love away the mask?

Can you care away the facade

That I built with love and happiness?

Can you break this shell I'm in?

Can you help the girl inside

Crying for help?

Can you do all this

And so much more

With my unhealed scars upon my heart?

I have built this mask,

This facade, this shield,

To stop any more scars from forming.

But this has yet to happen.

I get new scars everyday

With every crueal word said.

The scars on my heart

Can never be healed,

Can never be soothed.

They stay

And show those who look

The pain and sadness I have endured.

Listening

My heart beats slowly

My blood flows silently

My tears drip quietly.

The blade sits upon the side,

Glistening red and silver,

Waiting to cut again.

Your picture lies upon the floor,

A smiling couple lay behind

The broken and shattered glass.

The water runs,

And drains

Taking with it the red.

I smile slowly,

As I lay in the

Red, red water.

I look at the picture,

Then at the blade,

Then at the water.

I close my eyes

And welcome the warm,

Comforting darkness.

My heart beats no more

My blood flow never again,

My tears are dried.

Sorrow smiles softly

As Death swoops by close

And Jealousy leaves this world with a sigh.

quite touching i have to admit... powerful as well

one thing to say, It would have been better if you switched the word scar at times for wounds for example just a thought.

I loved it anyways

First off, thank you, Jason, for both the suggestions and the review. I am planning on going over the poem, but first I need to do something since this poem was written from a friends journals that I got. Sad, but true.

Also, I'll be putting more out there soon.

Rose these were wonderful! I really like them, very dark, but very beautiful. I think I preferred the second one slightly, but they're both great!

I disagree; I think the repeated use of the word 'scar' was a good poetic device that kept unity in the poem and also added to its overall power.

Anyway well done,

Kevin

Seriously, I need to remember to check these pages. I really do. Anyways, thank you dear one for your review.

When I wrote them, the words just kinda flowed. I didn't have to struggle to describe anything and scars fit. The second one, believe or not, was written first. About 2 months before scars, so it's the older one, even though, scars go first.

Hmm, well that linear path actually reflects more hope than the other way.

Anyway great job! :)
