I've been having problems with my eyes.

Been going round and round trying to figure out what is going on.

Thursday my optomologist did a test.

This morning she called me and is refurring me to a glaucoma specialist.

Oh crap.

Update:

Well here's the news.

Good news first: It's treatable and we caught it early.

Bad news: I've got glaucoma.

Conclusion: I'm not fond of optomologist. They tell me things that I don't want to hear and they poke me in the eyes.

James....hang in there...it will be ok...I take my glasses off and am as blind as can be..so to pardon a quote from Bill Clinton, I feel your pain....glaucoma is always a worry for me and of course all of us...actually anything with the eyes..so I am sure with treatments and taking good care with a good eye doctor you will be fine..

My thoughts go out to you and with you........it will all be better.....

and well, if not, something about Snow Dog coming by to comfort you with his tongue licking you all over and wet nose and some other such thing at least well would make you smile, cheer up and well, other such things that would get me bounced out of here..but pardon another bad pun *wink wink* it was nice of Snow Dog to offer..and well, um, I better end there before I get in worse trouble..

Hang in there James......you will be ok....we are rooting for you:)

Hey James,

Not wanting to be facetious around a serious medical condition, BUT... :P

You may now be able to access medical marijuana, as it is used to treat glaucoma. There is still debate going on as to its effectiveness in reducing intraocular pressure, but apparently users really don't give a shit. One of the side effects listed is euphoria. Duh!

If you can't get the "pill" form containing synthetic THC, you'll have to smoke about 12 joints a day. It's gonna be pretty cloudy around your place.

Beast, that really sucks, I'm sorry. I know what it is like to have a medical issue that won't ever go away and you are always worried about. The thought of vision loss is really scary. I'm glad it was caught early, I'm sure new and more effective treatments are coming every year. The advice I give everyone I know who has a chronic medical condition is to make sure that your medical professionals are the best you can afford. Chronic conditions affect you emotionally as well as physically, so make allowance for that, both in terms of the immediate shock, and the long term depression. You have done so much for yourself in the last year or so, don't let this be a setback. :D

Take care of yourself,

Snowey

When faced with adversity, having an optimistic outloook helps you to get through it. Keep your chin up. Try not to focus on the negative aspect too much. This will only bring you down. Part of a healthy body is a healthy mind. Though it is not always easy to think positively in situations like this, surrounding yourself with supportive people helps. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi James

I know precisely how you feel, because I went thought the same. I am a Diabetic and because of that I got Glaucoma. I was losing sight in both of my eyes. I must confess that it did frighten me quite a bit.

My Optician referred me to the hospital to see a specialist and he told I had Glaucoma. Now I don
