Calling all Warhammer 4000 fans!

Persinette

What armies do you play? What armies do you wish you played? Are there any armies you wish didn't exist?

What is it you like the universe and setting? Got any godawful gaming experiences you want to rant about? Tell 'em here!

All other GW players - be it Fantasy, Bloodbowl, Necromunda, Lord of the Rings or anything else - feel free to chime in too!

EDIT - I hate my keyboard, as it failed to notice me pressing 0 FIVE times. Rest assured, clumber has mocked me soundly for this error.

Persinette, ive played since 40k started, i was 14. Lol. I even worked with GW for a spell.

The armies I still use are Eldar, Isha's tears my own craft world, a massive mixed unit guard army, around 20000 points probably more. A Grey Night Company. Dark Eldar, and Necrons. For fantasy I still have dark elves and a slayer army.

Mainly play the specialist games now. But still have the odd battle night with the guys I worked with.

No it doesn't because Warhammer 40,000 is originally a tabletop game Posted Image

And I collect Eldar, and I am thinking of starting up a Dark Eldar army because they suit my playstyle Posted Image

Aaaaaaaaaaah now I know what you were talking about.

And riiiiiight you are collecting all the sexy androgynous elves because they 'suit your playstyle' unless you're talking about a different game

Dude, I totally know this guy you would get on with beautifully. You could spend hours reminiscing about Ye Good Olde Days. Posted Image

Does Dawn of War count? Cuz I really love to stomp faces there! Posted Image

SPACE MARINES ATTAAAAAAACK!

Only if we're not counting Soulstorm as canon.

Out of curiousity, what is it about their playing style that works for you? For me, n of the reasons was how mobile they are.

Hey, don't underestimate the sexy androgynous elves! They are guerilla warfare BAMFS. Posted Image

No one could be THAT perfect

They have interesting ideas of what counts as armour...

I mean, skimpy armour is nothing new in Fantasy / Sci-Fi but...well...I've seen quite a few models with metal plating delicately cupping a single buttock.

Also, if the guy on the front of the codex shrugs he's going to cut both his ears off.

For 40k I have Space Marines and...well...I suppose they are alright but Tau are my true love. Its the ability to just point a gun at something and make it go away. :P

GREAT!! You post images of the spiky armour !! :)

I wonder if they have favourite buttocks to protect or if it's just luck of the draw

It is actually quite amazing. Some of the leaders are so heavily covered in spikes, skulls and cahins that they look like they could hardly move. Also, I find it impossible to take a weapon seriously when it is called "The Agonizer"... Its all a bit cheap sex toy.

They are a very fun army though and I think I can honestly say I hate fighting them (in a good way). Some of their rules just seem to be made purely as a mind-screw for the other player. "Oh no, you can't shoot at this tank. Its further away than it is. Oh, this tank here? Yeah, you can shoot at that one. *rolls dice* Oh no, wait, nevermind. It doesn't exist just now".

Its a shame they were done so badly in the Dawn of War games... when I saw they were in an expansion I was quite excited but...well...it didn't go well. (Soulstorm was...les than ideal).

I'm gonna guesstimate this is an RPG yes?

Warmmer 40,000 is a tabletop wargame made by a UK company called Games Workshop.

They have a bunch of other lines as well, there is an RPG for their fantasy setting and quite a lot of computer games (although the truly successful ones only came about fairly recently).

Its generally pretty camp-tastic, a bunch of fans Ive met take it far too seriously but its always fun to get your geek on a bit :P

Hope that helps :)

Now this is a guy I could love

[picture cut]

Yeah, Nephy, that art pretty much sums up Dark Eldar :P

(And on the matter...whats with the skulls with those guys? Who really sits down and thinks "Well, I suppose my armour looks quite good but what I really feel I'm lacking is a heap of skulls around my groin".)

Eldar and Tau are fun to play.

You're missing a 0 in your title.

Yay for Tau. They were my first army a fair few years ago and are still probably my favourite. Probably my only regret is that in a bout of complete non-creativity I painted them in sandy colours but meh, I'm still happy with the job I did.

What are Eldar like to play? I've never played either with or against them really so I don't know much about how the army works.
