Magic systems are completely dependent up to the author of a particular universe and are controlled by him. Therefore, he has the right to invent and change them as he pleases. It's as if he has a remote vibrator and he controls us as he wants 😉 It seems to me that rigid systems can also change at the author's needs and many of the rules in them are successfully violated. This can be seen for example in the TV series "Supernatural" where the plot has been stretched for 13 seasons and the writers managed to break all the laws of their universe.
