JeffsFort Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 (edited) No, I'm not specifically talking about Jack Goodacre but if you don't know him and his dad, you seriously have some homework to do! I remember a time when if you were a big enough fan, you would send in a fan letter to some pre-arranged P.O. Box or something and someone (maybe even the celebrity you wrote to) would read your letter professing your absolute admiration to them. If you were really lucky, you might even be sent a reply that usually had a prewritten response and maybe even something to put up on your wall. Back then, that was amazing! To be able to contact a celebrity was absolutely mind blowing and just imagining that they even knew you existed, even in the smallest of ways was enough to make you smile for weeks! Fast forward to today and I am in absolute awe in how the internet has given a forum to some amazing talents that otherwise may not have been discovered. Not only that, but many use this platform to gain that audience, and they take that group of people along for the ride with them. I've been totally blown away that many of the artists we have focussed on in this magazine, either myself or someone on staff has interacted with these talents directly, one that Comsie did an article on a couple years back, I join with a small group of people like once a month just to talk about his plans, our plans, and even preview some of his material to give feedback. To me, he and many others may be on their way up but are absolute celebrities! They aren't supposed to know MY name, right? That's just crazy talk, LOL! So this month's question, have you ever worked up the courage to reach out to a celebrity? If so and they responded, was it a friendly interaction? Are you in their Discord now, posting memes and cracking jokes with them? Hehehe! If not, who would you like to interact with and why? 💜 Edited July 25, 2025 by JeffsFort Added detail to the title, after thought. 1
SilentandBroken Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 (edited) Ive met Mark Tremonti guitarist for Alter Bridge, Creed and his solo band Tremonti a few times. Super chill dude. We’ve chatted via twitter once in a blue moon. Really about it. I’ve only met him before and after a few shows they were doing. Got the autograph and a pic. D.K. Daniels Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 (edited) I've met a few famous people, working in the film industry. I've met the Irish actor and producer Baz Black. We've worked on one or two projects, and he's a really nice guy. I've met the comedian Sir Stevo Timothy, also a really nice guy, I got my picture taken with him. I've met the Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan. I've got a few peoples autographs, mostly from my teenage years, but I managed to pick up Dakota Fanning's autograph, I was, and still am a big fan. I've got all the Apollo 3 members signature from around 2009/10 when they where a band, and I've got Oscar Stembridge's autograph, as I was supporting new and upcoming talent at the time. The kid reminds me of Boy In Space a little, and he's got some really good music. Edited July 23, 2025 by D.K. Daniels 1
JeffsFort Posted July 25, 2025 Author Posted July 25, 2025 I have more recent stories but for this, I'll dig back some. I think I've been fairly lucky when it comes to approaching someone that I consider a celebrity although it wasn't always by choice. Starting when I was like 7 or 8 years old I met my first celebrities and had no clue who they were at the time. My father decided the entire family was going on vacation because he wanted to visit the town in Indiana that James Dean grew up in. There was some kind of dedication happening that he wanted to be there for and we made it. While there, somehow he met with and had a really cool conversation with his aunt who invited us back to the house where a few people would be stopping in. My father was elated to say the least. While we were there other people that I didn't recognize stopped in to drop off gifts or just to sit and visit for a while. We were bored out of our minds in no time. One that I do remember specifically was a man who had his three young sons in tow that were a little older but close enough in age to my younger brother and myself, so we asked if we could go out in the back and play for a while. I remember they looked just as bored as we were, LOL! For the life of me I can't remember the details but do remember we were all just happy to get outside and they knew the property so they showed us around a little. After days cooped up with the parents, my brother and I were psyched to get out and run and it looked like they were too! If I remember right, they were introduced to us as Emilio, Ramone, and Carlos. (Some of you may know where this is going now, LOL!) Fast forward almost a decade, I was planted on the couch watching "The Breakfast Club" and my mother walked in and started watching with me. When Emilio Estevez came on screen she tilted her head and asked "Do you remember meeting them?" Of course I gave her the side eye and asked "Meeting who?" She went into the the story of our trip to Indiana, which I remembered most of, the visit to James Dean's aunt's house, which I remembered, the man with his boys that we escaped the adults with... "You didn't realize that was Martin Sheen and his boys, did you?" She asked. Yeah, we got to go out and play with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez who would later become very well known celebrities following in their father's footsteps, lol! I've met a small hand full of celebrities since but I think the coolest would be that day with just us boys saving each other from being trapped inside with a bunch of adults! Really, that was all that mattered at the time. We all did catch hell for getting dirty too! Of course "that" I remember clearly! , LOL! Looking back, I wonder where his daughter was, she would have been the closest to my age actually Now, I do take the opportunities to reach out and show appreciation to someone I admire. My first experience with any form of celebrity taught me that regardless of what side of the camera or mic you are on, we are all just people. That attitude has paid off in some very rewarding exchanges and some really cool behind the scenes stories that probably mean nothing to anyone else but at the very least allowed me to share a smile with someone I was happy to simply give one back to.
