Quatermass And The Pit

almost 70 years ago (May 1957) writer Nigel Kneale pitched an outline to the BBC

it combined ancient folk law, sci-fi, ancient aliens, the supernatural and horror in modern-day (1950s) London:

During a major building project, site excavations uncover ancient humanoid remains 

archaeologists and anthropologists estimate they could be up to 5 million years old  

this is impossible - it totally undermines established evidence of early humans

And Britain is rebuilding hell-for-leather after the massive destruction during WWII

so the government is determined to continue the building work

But the scientists are equally determined to stop the work and find out what these remains mean

Pretty soon they’ll wish they hadn’t…   

This 1950s show predates colour TV in Britain but the image and audio is pretty good. It scores 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and ranks in the top 100 best ever British TV shows

Sometimes the old movies weree better than the new ones. Being in black and white doesn't make it a bad movie. I remember my family's first TV, every program was in black and white. Good post @Zombie

I've been disappointed since 2015 that we didnt' have Mr Trash compact fusion reactors and flying cars that Back to the Future said we would...
