Jared is always picked on because of his small size and consequently, his inability to defend himself. During a regular bullying session he is saved by the captain of the football team, Maxwell Thomas and a friendship is created between the two after Max shows Jared his self worth and helps him work out in the local gym. Their friendship is strengthened further when Jared helps Max out with his father and Max accepts the fact that Jared is gay. However there are more problems on the way that could affect their friendship
