Another awesome chapter! Honestly, I don't understand how Mark can come up with one after another. This chapter, however, is even better. Over the last two books we have seen Will grow as a person. His personality has come out. Will is a awesome character. A number of readers have thought of Will as spoiled and bratty kid. I however, looked at him different. Will believes in himself, no lack of confidence here. For almost 14, he is a person of his word. Not too many 14 year olds are that strong. But what impresses me the most is two things. He forgave John. Gathan urged him to do that but still a lot of 14 yos wouldn't. I know of a lot of adults who have great difficult forgiving any one who has hurt even just a little. Then he does something even better he helps his mother to see how she can not only reconcial with him but also with her partner. I think that is pretty good for just a kid of 14. I also believe he was the only person that could do both those things. I honestly, don't see Brad do that even at 18 or even 22. Even JP had problems forgiving his mother and father then he was 26. This kid is pretty impressive. He may not always get it right but he can adapt. Another impressive young man, Gathan has his heart in the right place. Yes, he has a problem with his temper but look at Brad at Gathan's age. Gathan seems like he is always thinking of others either it is his sister or his friends. Look how he helped Will or Harry and Ed to name a few. However, one person he can't help is Zack. Gathan needs to get out of that town. Him and Zack are poison. I believe Gathan will be dragged down by Zack. Living in that small house is not good for either of them. Gathan told Stef that the sexual parts of his partners didn't matter . It was more important that he liked them. I think that reflects how things have changed other the years. John said he didn't know if he was gay only that he loved Will. That also reminds me of the relationship of Matt and Wade. l would agree that John would be a great narrator for another story down the road.

I just don't want Zack died. It would hurt Clara and Wally. They are good people. If Alexandra gets it on 9 11 so be it. Even her son David no problem. As for 9 11, it is one of those days I will never forget. It shook the whole country. It was the same for the Kennedy assassination. So many people died that day, in which America responded with anger and rage and got us into two wars which we could have avoided.I have always believe war should be the last resort. Not the first response.

I agree I don't see Zack in Paris. I hope Zack does not end up like Billy (Jeff and Isidore's son). To many dead bodies around. As for Claire and Will, I think they would be good for each other. Maybe without Will, Tiffany and Jeanine can get back together. I also like the idea of Will finding time to spend with JP and Stef. Will already was a relationship with Wade. I also hope none of the guys get wiped out in 9 11. This family has lost too many over the years (Andre, Jeff, Billy, Billy ( Jeff's son), Mouse, Sam, Roger, Greg, Tonto, Marie Jack. Barry and Steve ) That is more than most families could endure. They are a strong bunch, but any more maybe too much.

Thanks Mark for another great chapter. It is interesting to see these two interact with the others in their lives. I think I wish all young gay men had a family like Will has. Maybe Jeanine has problems with him but the others are very supportive. I like the idea of Will and John together. At first I thought they were maybe too young but I am warming to the idea. Honestly, I think the trip to Paris will be very interesting. I am also hoping Will and Jeanine will work out their differences. I believe deep down all these characters really love each other. As for Gathan, he is really a good person. Yes troubled but deep down inside good. His understanding in trying to make things right with Zack and the situation with Ed and Harry proves to me that Gathan's heart is in the right place. I am hoping David Sizemore can help him get him in a better place. Maybe, moving to California will lower the tension between him and Zack. Zack is the puzzle in this. I am not sure about him. Mark, I was wondering what has happened with Kevin? He seems to have dropped off the radar.

Another outstanding chapter! One of the things that I find most interesting is the viewpoint of Will. It's how he looks at the others. Wade, Matt and even his dad Brad are seen in a new light. For some reason it makes all of them seem more real. Should Will move to Palo Alto? I'm not sure. If he moved he would be closer to John and Gathan, but away from his dad and the waves. Hard choice.

This chapter is wonderful in so many ways. After rereading LW and Be rad again I think that lot of chickens are coming home to roust. Mark has slowly developed Will from a cone of Brad into a real person. Both Brad and Will are strong willed people. Another problem is that Brad ran the show and Robbie and Jeanine just followed along for all those early years. Even though Brad tries to be new and improved he slips back sometimes. The failt lies with Brad more than anyone else, If Brad believes Will should be judged by maturity and not age. Why can't Will do what he wants? Staying with Clare for a few weeks is not unreasonable. You have to keep the rules the same. Changing them all the time will not help anyone. Maybe Jeanine, Tiffany, Robbie Brad and Will should visit David Sizemore. Looking back maybe JP and Isidore did a better job than everybody thought. Two more comments I also like the duel narrators it gets you into the mind of Will and Gathan and therefore you understand their points of view better. I'd also like to point out a parallel situation: Do you guys feel that Stef and George are both trying to heal broken people they care about. One more thing Don't you think it odd Brad seems ungrateful? Gathan saved him. Stef seems for gratefull. Do you think that unusual?
-
I am sorry if any of you thought that I was lecturing you. By the phrase "I will try this again" I meant I was having trouble posting my comments. I had tried it twice before and before I finished them they disappeared. I would never dis any comment by any of you ever. All of us are here because we love Mark's stories. Again I am very sorry if you got that impression. I hope you all will forgive me.

Hasn't Stef been doing that since befriending Brad in 1973? Thank you Mark you said it better than any of us could have.

I'm going to try this again. Stef is Stef, Not many people could do what he does. Stef is try to give Gathan confidence, something he needed. I believe it will go on for a little longer. As for JJ maybe he should grow up and not think only about himself. Will has John back and I think that is what Will really wants. JP understands Stef. Who here would not like to sleep with Stef even if he is in the 50s. Will may be a teenager but I think he has his head on straight. Will sees the world in black and white, very little gray. That can be a hard road to travel but Will is a young man who believes his word is his bond, which makes him in my book almost noble. Honestly, Brad is not the easiest father to have. Robbie I think would be much easier to live with. I also think because Brad and Will have been so close in the past. Will uses Brad against Jeanine. What teenagers hasn't done that. Brad and Jeanine have not been a team in raising Will and the other kids. I think JP and Isidore did a better job. Brad needs to learn you can't be a buddy and dad at same time and it comes a time you have to trust your children to do the right thing. Maybe this is the time. One thing I feel odd why did Stef ride to the hospital with Gathan and Brad did not. Maybe the next chapter will tell us.

Mark. Mark Mark. You really love loving dangerously don't you? At first I thought it was a dream, then puzzled, finally JP's threat of sicking Tonto on you. That should put the fear of God in you. One person I would not want mad at me. Remember you like HAPPY Endings. Where do you live again? Just kidding.

As usual Mark has done it again! Out of the great loss of Travers some good may come. George has a new purpose in life, showing what Travers was a hero. George has a new helper who he can lean on. They will be good for each other and maybe provide and support each other during the dark times ahead. Honestly, I feel better about George now. He will make it over this loss. I wondered if he would. Mark likes happy endings. So I should have known.
-
I need to change my vote. I think John Carullo would balance Gathan well. Both good for each other.
-
Still the burning body of Travers is on my mind. We look at George and think how great it would to be him. Handsome brave sailing around the world but we forget that what he does is very dangerous. This could have been George dead burning on the deck of the sinking ship. George has been very lucky so far. It only takes one wrong move. Adventure and danger around very corner. I think George needs both adventure and love. Hopefully, his skill and luck will not desert him.

I was more upset with Gathan and Will and maybe the thought of John sexually active at 12. As for Stef and Gathan, Stef has always come across as a healer, a peacemaker, as he has said a lover not fighter. Maybe Brad also got upset because the one person he has always secretly wanted is Stef. Gathan needed to be healed and only Stef could do that. I also really like Will. It is so good to see him as his own person. 14 yo kid telling off the cops. A 14 yo who believes that his word is his bond. Will - power. I love that line. A 14 yo who has gone through some sadness ( Drew) but still is willing to try again. It is so easy to just say that relationship was just kid stuff. Now it will be interesting to see what happens with John. I am hoping they can be friends and maybe more. Sometimes things do work out against all odds. Stef and JP together after 30 years. Brad and Robbie together since 17 almost 20 years. Matt and Wade. None of these couples are perfect but still good role models. I think Will is one of those people who can take the good things from all these relationships but will do it his own way. That is what makes him a interesting good character, someone we want to follow his progress.Good Luck Will. I[m betting on you.

I must say only Mark could write one great story after another. Poor Man's Son is fast becoming the best story. The dual narrator really help the story. Before Will was Brad's clone. Now his personality is coming through. The new and improved Brad still needs a lot of work. Of course so does Gathan. I am glad Will is giving John a second chance. I hope Zack will not be the new Brian.

All day at work I saw in my mind the burning body of George's dear friend John Travers. Unbelieveiblily sad. I really feel bad for George. If I can't get it out of my mind how can George?
-
In some ways George and Steven (Stefan's father) are the same. They are out there alone. In the CAP saga you have a group of guys who support each other. George is out there alone. John's death will hit him to the core. George lost his lover, mentor and friend all in one blow. It would be like Brad losing Stef, Robbie and JP all at once ( Mark don't you do that). Brad would still have his kids and Cody. George needs love. I hope he finds someone who can fill that role.

After rereading chapter 3, I am a little surprised. Will seems to be a little more stiff than I would think he would be. However, He is a man of his word and that is a good thing to be. Zack is becoming a selfish person of course being hurt by someone you trust could do that to you. Then there is Gathan, He is becoming a more interesting and like able person. Trying to help Will, Zack and John heal their rift.and also trying to heal himself. Hopefully Stef will be able to help him do that. Of course Stef is the master so if anyone can it's Stef. One other thing is interesting about this story is that we get to see Brad from another point of view. Even Will at times thinks his dad goes to far. I also like that Gathan will not break Will's trust. I think that shows that both Will and Gathan are honorable people. Mark at first I wasn't sure if I liked how the story was unfolding, but now I can see that even though Gathan maybe troubled, he still is a good, kind person who needs help. I am sure the guys will do just that. Is this not one of your underlying themes, the flawed hero works to heal himself. A message for us all.

Thank you so very much!!!

I am up to LW at this point Chapter 1 Brad's eyes are blue but should be green,

In chapter 55 of Millennium, Gathan tells the guys that Wally and Clara take care of six kids. Zeke 16, Zack 14 which are their sons, him and Ella which are Fred's kids and Brent and Trent which are other brothers kids.
-
Zack is Clara and Wally Hayes youngest son. Wally is Robbie's cousin. John is Clair and Jack's son, Will's cousin. Gathan is Fred Hayes son. Fred is Robbie's cousin. Robbie is Brad's partner and Will's second dad. Clair is Brad's sister. It is hard fellow the CAP world sometimes with out reading the whole saga from the beginning. Just a thought on the second chapter of Poor Man's Son. It blew me away even if I thought John and Will could have have a relationship. I think at this age maybe pact or understanding would be a better word for it. I can see why Gathan decided to go to go Stanford. This whole thing is a mess. Only one person can straighten it out so to speak is Stef . He can understand them better than anyone else. Hopefully, they will go to him. One other thing, I think Steven ( Stefan's father ) would be amused that his great grandson and Aaron's great great nephew (Gathan ) returned to his favorite place. It proves that things don't really change that much. The best thing about the chapter was you got to know Will and Gathan better, understand them a little more. I think they will be good for each other. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Hi I've started rereading the whole saga. Just a few mistakes CAP chapter 6 when JP receives the letter from Northwestern JP s/b Andre hugs. JP. JP could hug himself but I think it was Andre. Chapter 12 and 13 Jeff's father was called Frank s/b Fred. Jeff's brother (Robbie's father) is Frank. AS I read through the chapter if I find anything I'll let you know.
-
I thought it would be Gathan. He is another person with issues but he tries hard to over come his temper. Who does that sound like? Is this the new Brad? I am glad that he is in control. I am sure he will take us for a great ride. Love you Mark!!

Ella and Claire both have Grandmaman, Marie. Claire's Grandmother, Ella great grandmother.
