Mine! Part Two Chapter Fourteen
Cia commented on Cia's story chapter in Mine! Part Two Chapter Fourteen
Having the soul isn't the same as being bonded with the soul. Think about the issues Kraig has dealing with his senses and new 'self' after a long time of being bonded with the souls. I could only imagine what it would be like to have a whole new way to perceive things by such a fundamental shift in mental/physical characteristics, but I'd like to think it would definitely create issues, especially so quickly after the soul was taken. Definitely time for a lot of questions--and hopefully answers! Park did restrain himself, which is a miracle considering whose soul they stole and put in the werekin, but he did controlled his temper once before when they were attacked in their hotel room too, so I thought it would be believable. Success! Relief.... They still have a lot of questions, but now there's some hope of getting some answers. Will that throw a wrench in what they've done and what they know... or think they know? Mebbe. -
“Today, Anatol.” “Is this an order?” Anatol stared outside. Both suns shone bright, and the keen brilliance reflected off every crystalline surface. His skin itched. “Yes.” His boss was implacable. “Or I’m revoking your study.” She didn’t know what she was asking… what he’d discovered. “No matter what, don’t touch the inspector.” It would be hard. On days this bright, the energy from the light was nearly impossible to resist sharing. “For me, please,” Anatol begged him

Branches left stinging cuts on my skin, but I couldn’t slow down. I’d followed the bastard’s scent trail until I got close enough that I could hear his footsteps ahead of me, but I couldn’t catch up. He wasn’t going to get away from me. I finally got a little luck when a stream created a deep ravine too wide for him to jump. The opposite side was muddy and steep, too steep to climb up easily. The sight of him spurred me on, and I snarled as I leapt into the water. The rounded rocks were sli

story review Featured Story: Hypnotic
Cia commented on Renee Stevens's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Thank you for the wonderful review, LitLover! I didn't see this one was coming, so that was a nice morning surprise for me. See, I don't 'like' snakes in real life (more garter snakes than I can count have fallen prey to the lawnmower) as a creature, they are really cool. I had a ton of fun writing this book. I will say that it makes the most sense to read these 3 Carthera stories in order (Bonds Unbroken, Two of a Kind, Hypnotic) and the two Carthera side stories sort of fall after/concurrently with Hypnotic. Also, I'm working on revising Bonds Unbroken to post on Amazon as part of their Kindle Unlimited program. It'll be more than a basic edit, but the core of the plot will stay the same. I hope to do the same for each book, including Hypnotic. Never fear, though, they'll be staying on GA in their formats now. -
If you go to your gallery album (not an individual photo), is there a white box in the upper right corner of each image? If you have it and click on it to check it (and you should be able to do multiple images too) do you get a pop up bar that says, "With 1 selected: various pictures of options like feature/pin/delete"?

Cia commented on Cia's story chapter in Mine! Part Two Chapter Thirteen
Oh yeah, a bit of softness in the drama. More to come next week! -
I couldn’t help but wonder if this was going to be the last time I got to see Ritch. Whatever they’d created… it was strong. Kraig was wasted, his body weak, but he’d been far stronger than he should’ve been when they sent him feral. And who knew how many they had? Ritch was with our car. “Why aren’t Christian and Landon staying?” “Remote start. They can get the rigs going if we have to come running. Christian might look mostly human, but he’s not. I need you safe.” “But I should

April C S R Feature: Unison Island Series by Caz Pedroso
Cia commented on Cia's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Oh, look at you trying to give me a 'smart out'. LOL! No, though the story search is a great feature, that wasn't my intention. Originally I'd placed a series link in the text, but then the page glitched (Edge is still not compatible with all areas of the site) and I had to redo the post. I must have lost the series link that was in the original paragraph. I've added a big series link as well as a link to each story now, though. Thanks for the heads up!- 11 comments

I *might* have no problems saying that to my husband when he does something stupid. That, and "Stupid hurts." LOL I dunno... Ritch has had a lifetime of doing what he's told. That's not exactly easy to overcome. Violence? Bloodshed? In one of my stories?

The only thing I'm getting email notifications on right now are PM messages. There are some major bugs basically affecting any Stories content you follow (including your own), making all notifications relating to that broken. I am getting on-site notifications if someone likes a chapter/story, but that's it. I have to go check each story for comments directly.
-
I didn't notice that, but we know that stories and chapters being posted unpublished are randomly publishing. Even if the content is then manually unpublished, it then republishes again. Also, post-dated stories are appearing in the chapter list (with the purple clock) but of course they're not openable, which makes readers think it's a bug, which isn't how it's supposed to work. I'm posting my content live to avoid the issues for now.
-
No, I didn't say it wasn't on the list, but I thought it was something that had been cleared in the last update. I was just making sure all the settings were toggled off/on and then tried to save again. Never hurts to verify in case the update "fixes" the issue but you have to reset stuff to get it to work the way it did before.
-
This should be working. You went here: https://www.gayauthors.org/stories/settings/ and toggled all the switches for favorite stories and authors to green? Made sure you hit save?

Great article on characterization and how to craft a person's personality based on their actions and interactions with those around them. I think, all too often, authors can be guilty of focusing too tightly on their main character/immediate secondary characters, and the story becomes a too-tightly focused microcosm. Sprinkling in interactions with smaller 'bit part' characters throughout the story, like the sister's boyfriend and the boss, even if they weren't introduced 'in person' is vital. How many people do you casually interact with during the day? The gas station attendant, the bank teller, the clerk at the store. Waving at a person who lets you merge on the freeway. The telemarketer who calls at dinner. A fellow student who cuts in front of you in line at the dining hall. The stranger who comments on... (your clothes, your hair, whatever). These are all chances to show different parts of the main character's personality, and serve to flesh out the cast in a story so it feels more 'real', no matter if your main character is drifting through space, living life in the fast lane, or traveling the underworld in search of Hades.

LOL! Fun. Park being an ass. You know, six of one, half a dozen of another. He's definitely not as nice to the others as he is to Ritch. Yes! The dynamics between Ritch and Park are developing, but I like that you get the feeling that Ritch doesn't really GET it. He's been marginalized all his life, so if he had the trust that he's worth being wanted, I don't think it would really be believable.
-
Well, he is an ass, but not enough to compromise things. Christian's pretty wise to his methods, which is why he waited for him to be gone, lol. Yes, things are definitely moving along. Ritch has a valuable role as a human werekin, but fighting definitely isn't his strength, and there's no chance it won't come down to a fight.
-
“What in the hell happened to you guys?” Ritch asked. He shut the car door and followed Christian over to where we were sitting near the tents. “Did you guys pick up the ice like I asked?” “Yeah.” Christian went back to the car and grabbed the bag out of the trunk. He opened the ice chest. “It couldn’t have melted that fast.” “Nope.” I held up a strip of my shirt holding a handful of ice before putting it back over the split in my lip. “We needed it.”

Well thank you guys for making this event a success each month. I'm glad Crave was a popular choice! I love it when people have really active/fun discussions for the CSR. Nothing helps motivate other readers, and authors, more than a great recommendation/review/discussion of a story.

Did you have a chance to read LitLover's scifi vampire novel, Crave? Maybe read it again if you were a fan when LitLover first posted the story? Hopefully you enjoy it and have lots of comments or questions ready to ask! But first, I have an interview with her to share... apparently she's never had to talk about herself that much! LOL What action would your name be if it was a verb? Hmm, well if my name were a verb it would be daydreaming. I’m always being accused of daydreaming; while I’m writing, and while I’m reading. Not that exciting, I know, but it fits. Share one unique or quirky habit you have. I don’t know if it’s a habit or a quirk, but I won’t write about a character until I hear their “voice” in my head. Even minor characters have a unique inflection and tone. If their “voice” isn’t clear they’re scrapped from the story because I know I won’t be invested enough to give their character the attention it might deserve. What are you wearing (and no fibbing!)? I just got home from the office, so I’m wearing fairly professional attire: a dark blue blouse, black slacks, and chunky black heels. If you caught me in a few hours it might be sleep pants with kittens on them and a tank top. What is one story/book/eBook you’ve read and reread and think others should read immediately? I don’t really have one favourite book, although I am a diehard Jane Austen fan and reread her books often. More contemporarily I always recommend anything by Headstall (here on GA). I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read Song and Dance and Cards on the Table. I’m a sucker for a good HEA. What’s the best part of being an author? Being able to create worlds and characters purely from imagination. People can be anything you dream up; any profession, race, or sex, and the worlds you create are only limited by what you picture in your mind’s eye. It’s a great feeling to effectively sketch out what you see so the reader is right there with you. What’s one location you’d love to go to research for a story (including space)? I would love to follow Jenson and Merrick into space. It would be amazing if some of those places actually existed so I could visit them in person. One of the locations I’ve had in my head lately was Landin’s home world of Anphilia. It’s a water planet with areas I imagine look much like the Caribbean ocean. It would be great to go scuba diving in the Caribbean just to get a feel for that world. (Not because it’s -17 Celsius in March.) What prompted you to combine a science fiction story in space/alien planets and ‘vampires’? It was an idea that came out of the blue. I was having a discussion about the vampire craze in books and movies with a friend and wondered “why are all vampires paranormal? What if they were created by some natural event instead?” That thought led to vampires being descendants of humans with altered DNA. I wasn’t sure the concept would be well received, but when I ran the idea by Gary (Headstall) he encouraged me to take the leap and post the story. Just how many twists did you write in Crave, and how much did you enjoy coming up with them? There were several twists in Crave, which led to the nickname “Cliffie Queen” one reader bestowed on me. I have to admit, I loved writing Crave because, although I tried to keep the story from becoming too fantastical, it was freeing having all imaginable worlds and species at my fingertips. Politics is a complicated subject to write. Did you have to keep notes/use a cheat sheet to keep all the differing elements relating to that accurate as you wrote the story? As this was my first real story, I thought I could “wing it”, but quickly found out how easy it is to get lost in the details. I was about halfway through the story when I realized I needed an outline for my own peace of mind. By the last chapter I had a fairly detailed summary with character names, affiliations, and even a personal history of the major characters. I will never write another story without an outline, and would recommend the process to all new writers until you figure out what works best for you. Can you share something of your current or upcoming work to entice readers? I’ve been toying with a few ideas lately. The first is book two of Crave set a couple of years after the epilogue. I’m also working on a short story for Landin and Tei that’s in the rough copy stage. Another idea I have brewing is something I haven’t shared with anyone, including my esteemed editor (it’s that new). The theme is darker than anything I’ve written before, and is inspired by events that have affected people I care about. It won’t be “based on a true story,” but the subject matter is personal to me. I don’t know if the finished product will see the light of day, but it feels like an important story to tell.

This is a bug or some sort of software issue that we're looking into as the site is being worked on. There should be a Stories button. Bear with us.
