Thank you so much for your review! In answer to your question, I read through that section to see if I could tell where you were coming from on that. I can see how it could be difficult to understand and I am considering a rewrite of this story which will make it clearer. The bad guys waited for a time for Trace to come back, when he didn't, they realized they needed to draw him out somehow. From what I know, police partners are very close (many of them anyways), and the bad guys simply figured that using his partner was the best way to draw him out. Even with Trace gone, it was unlikely that he wouldn't be in contact with his partner and the station. They found out when Mitch would be least likely to be missed (basically his days off) and moved in. I can't remember for sure if I had there being a mole in the station, but if there was, then that mole could have even informed the bad guys of when Trace checked in. I will definitely have to look more at the possibilities if I do a rewrite! Thank you again for your review and your question!
