  1. Ditto to anything with water in the name. They just sound lame. Do I really want to feel like I'm at a mall with disaffected 12 year old middle class teeangers or that I'm hanging out at an office building when I visit gayauthors? I'm not the best at naming things, but why not "General Discussion?" I fail to see what's wrong with it the way it is. Though "Random Ramblings" might be fun (better for a blog though). Or how about just "Off Topic?" //shadows P.S. Sorry if I'm ripping off anybody from the post above, I'm tired and my brain isn't working right. Just count it as a vote for their suggestion.
  2. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/sundays...-name_page.html This article seems to state so. I'm too tired (and busy) too look for the source article from the APA. Still, it's an interesting proposition. What if all those people who shout "fag" were secretly wishing they could take part in that which they publicly claim to loathe. Sort of the ultimate revenge fantasy isn't it? I know the urban legend about the most rampant homophobes being closet homosexuals has been around for awhile, still nice to see a little evidence. Pity the level of homosexuals, and the level of those who are comfortable with their homosexuality isn't equal. //shadows
  3. Rejection. Oh, and getting my shoelace caught in an escalator. Imagine your foot/leg slowly being pulverized because your shoelace got caught and you can't get it out in time. What an ignominious way to die. //shadows
  4. You should meet one of my friends, damn him.
  5. My god, I want you all on my Who want's to be a Millionaire phone line... I can't believe how many have gotten them all.

    DD Rant

Awww, sorry to hear that Dom. I've never understood why some people do that to authors. Although we each have our preferences I'm happy to be getting anything at all! Hope your headache goes away, and best of luck. //shadows
  7. psshaw, you're not supposed to post the answers you guys! But spoiler tags around it or something And I made the exact same mistakes btw. //shadows
  8. Ah, so these quizzes have been floating around the Internet for awhile, and I found them to be a great deal of fun. They're verbal challenges and they test basic knowledge of familiar facts and sayings. They're highly addictive and a great deal of fun. How many can you get right without cheating? I got 22 for the first one and a friend got all but one (She's apparently insane smart) For the second I'm currently at 15 on my own and am at 17 with collaborators. So, how far can you get? And please, don't post the answers here. Part One Part Two Our english friends may have an easier time of Part 1, as it contains several UK specific references. (Though, again, my smart American friend got all of the British ones, but one). //shadows
  9. I was thinking to myself when I began this story: something tragic in a car accident, something tragic in a car accident. Dunno why, but I'm hitting Vegas next week! Hmm, can't say I've ever done anything like that, oh what I miss out on... but it's an interesting premise even though it has been done before. I'm not sure if I'm very sympathetic towards anyone but "mr. emerald eyes" right now. I don't have much respect for anyone who gets drunk & stoned and then goes out... just a bad idea. Feel free to do it at home, just don't involve others. I'll be interested to see where this is going though. Hopefully this doesn't mean another abandonment of DD. //shadows (haha, I avoided the baked pun! YES!)
  10. Yeah, I winced at that scene. But honestly, with the proper care and maintenance a cape is no more deadly than your average article of clothing. I mean even your shoe laces can be costly/deadly as evidenced in this case. So, just be careful.
  11. Those of you who aspire to be evil over lords and don't recognize the origin of that list, please hand over your aspirant card at the door. That list was taken from eviloverlord.com one of my favourite sites. Always good for a laugh. I'm in favor of the all black rule meself. And a cape. We can't forget the cape. Also, I'd be an evil over lord in crushing my enemies, not towards my subjects. It's hard to fight a revolution when it's your own army who's rebeling. //shadows
  12. It's by you so any of us would click on it. But honestly, I'd skip right over those if I saw them on nifty. //shadows
  13. No, no no Friendly. The emphasis on hydration isn't the mundane interaction of familial discourse, it's instead the primevil urge of every human being to realize their baser realities. Consider, that the human body is composed of 70% water and before born we are surrounded in fluid. We therefore come to the realization that it's not about water, it's about life. What Seth and his kin are offering Rory is life, the purified essence upon which we all depend. Consider also, that many cultures and tribes, especially in desert regions viewed sharing water as a sign of peace, and cordiality. To drink water with others was to signify peace and friendship. The drink therefore might be viewed as an acceptance into the Fisher household to one once viewed as an enemy. But, what of the baser realities? The water that they offer Rory is something fleeting. Whether by evaporation or consumption, the water will dissapear, leaving nothing where it once was. So too might the relationship of Rory and Seth evaporate leaving nothing in its wake, but an empty container, a container that once had a human soul. //shadows P.S. I'm willing to bet that the relationship between Seth and Rory is over within a few chapters.
  14. The theme of this chapter ladies and gentlemen is jealousy.
  15. Hmm as a dedicated reader and one who's unlikely to be anything else in the near future, I fell I'd like to throw my two cents into the ring. In pretty much any work of fiction, everyone has their ideal way of the story turning out. But, unless you're the author, you don't really have control over it. And that's the fun of it. For if we all knew how the stories were going to play out it wouldn't be that much fun to read them, now would it? Secondly, I as a reader enjoy speculation. I've been wrong more times than I cared to count, and I always viewed it as a harmless past time. For example, favoring a certain relationship, or trying to guess what's going to happen to another. My question to the authors is: Do you find this disturbing/distracting? For me, it's never a "I want this to happen." It's always more of a "I think this is going to happen." If I got what I wanted, well everyone would have boyfriends for life and ride off into the sunset by the end of the first chapter.. If I ever felt out I had a real influence on a story, I think I'd feel pretty bad. It's no longer somebody elses tale, it's mine too. And by participating, I've removed the invisible wall, that allowed me to enjoy it. I hope that nobody here is modifying their stories because of anything I've said. I mean, I really don't want want to read about Grandma Alice heading to Vegas... Lastly, there's one thing I've found unbearably rude with other readers. Messaging the authors to ask for new chapters/find out when the next one's coming out. Unless the author is on commission (and you're paying it), you have no right to make demands. Be polite, they're providing you with a service for free and you have the ingratitude to make demands? Waiting is half the fun anyway, eh my fellow Domaholics? //shadows P.S. I'm not joking about the waiting thing. I've been waiting for Acey to finish this story for four years...
  16. Thanks. I'd ask a friend, but I really don't need the questions that would ensue... haha. //shadows
  17. This could be interesting. I think it's a promising beginning, but I could see it progressing along very stereotypical lines. I'd read in the hope to see that you'd take this someplace different. Good luck! //shadows edit: Since when has Weed cost a dime? I was under the impression it cost a fair bit more. No personal experience, just assumptions.
  18. *sigh* that's not anonymous. It's from Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. It's referring to the protagonist Valentine Michael Smith. (That's a great book to have a discussion about Heinlein's attitudes towards homosexuality). Pretty much anyone from the 60s has grokked it, and it's well worth a read even for the non-scifi fans. Here's another great kissing quote from the book. "Kiss girls all you want to - it beats the hell out of card games." ~ Jubal Harshaw //shadows
  19. Ah, we need to start the Junior Anti-Sex League of Gayauthors or something. Those of us who just can't seem to find boyfriends could band together. Someone want to make the banner? More on topic, great chapter. I kind of wish Aaron would just dissapear, I would typify these chapters as the calm between the storm. I predict that as soon as they get back from the boat trip something blows up majourly and we're all biting our nails again. That is if they even make it to the boat trip. I don't think the decision for Rory to stay is going to be based on the current information. I.E. Something's going to change the balance like Grandma Alice having a heart attack. God, what a complexthat would cause. Rory never even spoke and apologized to Grandma Alice before he died. Two family members dead in the last year... Ah that would be evil. I'm looking forward to it. Anybody else notice that Rory seems to be completely past Aaron? No more feelings of attraction whatsoever that aren't purely biological. And there's no doubt Aaron is working Seth. I'm not sure whether or not it will be successful. There's no law that says Rory has to win in the end... Am I the only one who was surprised that Luke didn't stay in the changing room with Rory? Just because Rory has given up on Luke doesn't mean that Luke has given up on Rory. Maybe Dom has been holding out on us all along... (I'm still for a Rory & Seth relationship but that Dom is a tricky guy) //shadows (Who raided the chocolate nuts earlier)
  20. Dorothy Parker, oh so brilliant. Another female who if she wasn't dead, and I wasn't gay, I'd be in love with. Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song, A medley of extemporanea; And love is a thing that can never go wrong; And I am Marie of Romania. These are too long to cite directly but are well worth the 10 seconds to read. Check out Resume & "One Perfect Rose" "Power corrupts. Absolute power is kind of neat." - John Lehman, Secretary of the Navy, 1981-1987 "They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist..." -- last words of General John Sedgwick (1864) And as I continue to masterfully procrastinate on my homework... "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." - Douglas Adams
  21. Feliz Cumpleanos! Happy Birthday! Tanjobi Omaideto!
  22. I'm of the firm conviction that quitting chocolate is impossible. I've tried (for acne reasons) and just couldn't do it. And I'm by no means a weak-willed person. I guess it was my first experience with addiction, and something seeming out of my control. It's easy to give up something for a predetermined amount of time (for example, the 40 days for Lent), but to know that you're giving it up forever seems to trigger all sorts of addictive responses... Nicely written post by the way. One of my personal favorite forms of writing something (the satirical self-commentary), and it was execute flawlessly. The only tip off was that it's unlikely you'd be addicted/telling us about your addiction like this. //shadows (I will not eat the chocolate nuts hidden in the top drawer of the dining room cabinet...)
  23. Rainbows, lots of rainbows. I kind of like the old logos they have their charm. Beyond that, no preferences really. I tried updating one of my old websites and I discovered I suck at graphic designing. You'd think being gay would be good for something... Ah well, best of luck to Nate, though I kind of like the website. It's like the web in '96. //shadows
  24. Someone's a Twain fan. I'd rather not know when a story is going to end, it's so much more fun to be pleasantly surprised. Unless it's the "and it was all a dream..." or "then the nuke obliterated #protagonist" variety. //shadows
