I never actually thought of it this way. That's most certainly an interesting take on it. I've always written Mrs. C's character with this saying in mind: "When no one else will love you, there is always mom." Some forms of love really have no limit.

It might be presumptuous of me to say this but I would think most people would prefer negative criticisms sent in private. After all, most writers who want to sell his book (or in this case efiction) would prefer that only the positive reviews are out there circulating. Seeing too many negative reviews (constructive or otherwise) can kill potential future readers. Of course this is what authors may like which may differ from what readers would like (such as being warned ahead of time if a story was any good or not).

Well I did say he would return TWO chapters from last week. Haha. Technically, HE WAS HERE, it just so happened to be in passing mostly.

I assure you Luke and Derek are in no way related. Hehehe. We will certainly be getting a visit from FATHER KNOWS BEST. And I need an iPhone with an alarm setting too. Or even without the alarm setting. Just saying.

CHAPTER 25: Spiral I looked terrible. As handsome and as sexy as I was, even I couldn’t deny that I was looking like shit. Sleep had evaded me ever since I saw my old Chicago Bulls jacket. Something about it was definitely wrong. There was a terrible, painful past linked to that jacket which was probably the reason I had forgotten what I did with it. Haha. On the bright side, you've had a lot to read in that time. Haha. I try to keep a weekly release (every Tuesday) so that people will more or less know when something is coming. If I can't release anything that week, I'll just put an update up. And thanks for reading my story and leaving a review.

It pertains to earlier parts of the story, yes. I can't answer who the blood belonged to. Also, I can't say yet either anything involving Charlie. There is no Mr. C by the way. It's always been just Charlie and his mom. Thanks hehe. I'm glad you liked Dr. Baker. Charlie will be back in two chapters and will be there for the rest of the story.

If you want to know what really happened with the jacket, I'm afraid you'll have to wait more than a week. Hold on though.

I can tell you now that she has no idea that the stains on the jacket is blood. I haven't seen that phrase (pink elephant) used that way before but I think I get what you mean (and no, no alcohol involved). That essential little detail regarding dad's absence is actually something that's giving me a very difficult time right now as I write the next few chapters. The thing is I can't find a way to effectively explain it without having to switch the PoV from Derek to another of the characters - that is at least without it resorting to a boring narration. We'll see I guess. If I can't fit it all in maybe it's something to discuss another time... say in a sequel. But yes, Derek's mom is quite aware of who her husband is. She did after all make a lot of sacrifices to make things work. As such, she is or was afraid that Derek would take the same path. Neither Derek or his mom will have the chance to warn Mrs. C about anything. The story is about to enter a spiral and they have other things to worry about. Not that Mrs. C won't find out on her own of course. And yes, there will be a price to pay... there always is.

I really do want to avoid such nasty cliffhangers (even if the evidence suggests otherwise)! Hehe. If it makes you feel better, the next chapter doesn't have a nasty cliffhanger... The one after that, not much of a cliffhanger either... But the one after that... well, yes it does have a VERY NASTY (but essential) CLIFFY. Haha.

Thanks Westlake82! Unfortunately, I am not very comfortable writing sex scenes so you are unlikely to be satisfied by my story IN THAT WAY. Hehehe. I'm glad you're enjoying it though. Looking at what I have so far of the story, there are only ten chapters left (then again it was ten chapters left a few chapters back also hehehe). However, I've written six out of the ten remaining chapters and it seems unlikely to me that we'll be seeing extra chapters pop up.
