Carmel High in NY Elects First Same-Sex "Cutest Couple"
Cyhort replied to methodwriter85's topic in The Lounge
I went to that high school for both my freshman years! Awesome that it was in the same school district where I got beat up and called a fag for years.... -
choiceofgames.com Anyone else ever hear of these guys? They make text based games that are kinda like choose your own adventure books, but they have stats and you can make your own character and depending on what type of character you make you might have some choices blocked or opened up for you or you might not be able to get certain endings, so the replayability is pretty high even though most of the games only take about 3 or so hours to get through. The best part? The games are extremely gay friendly and every game I've played so far lets you choose whether or not your character is gay or straight and has corresponding romances. Some of them aren't well written, but it's still always awesome to have the option. They also let anyone make their own games using their programming language and even sell some of the user made games on their site. If you're at all into text based games, you should at least check it out. The games are cheap too, and some of the older ones are free on the Google Play store if you don't mind an ad at the bottom.

Hey, if you're ok with potentially being recorded in your own home without your permission then that's cool. For me, privacy is a huge concern and always will be. I don't like the idea of anyone being able to get into my life in any way unless I let them.
-
My biggest problems with the One are the potential invasion of privacy issues with the Kinect being always on and always listening/watching. I need to find out more about that and if you can stop it from showing your image to people without your permission.

I literally only do number 7. Everything else, nope, totally useless at.
-
I'm gonna get both of them eventually, but only one at launch. I'm not sure which one yet though. I'll wait till after E3 to decide
-
I hate that costume. Hate it. They took a classic costume and made it generic matte black with a red line on the visor and it just, looks like total crap.
-
Nope, I don't consider them games even though they technically are. To me a game needs to be more than just a quick way to waste fifteen minutes while you're waiting for a bus. They're casual distractions, nothing more than that.

The Most Amazing Story You Will EVER READ
Cyhort commented on Fishwings's blog entry in Fishwings' Blog
I freaking love My Imortal. Not even joking. Best fanfic ever. -
To be fair, we're not taught in school at all about modern eastern European countries, so it's understandable that some people would be confused. If you wanna get mad at anyone, get mad at our crappy public schools.

Did 90's Fantasy have more gay subtext than modern fantasy?
Cyhort commented on W_L's blog entry in Life is worth an entry
I think it's just that back then guys could be "really close friends" and not have everyone automatically think, "oh they're in love". It's like the Kirk/Spock thing. They're obviously madly in love with each other, but when the shows and movies were made, people just didn't think that way, so they're "friends". -
Very meh. I just tend to assume everyone I'm attracted to is gay and everyone who looks like a douchebag is straight, lol. Every once and a while I'll see a guy who either dresses or acts really stereotypical/flamey and I'll be like, oh, ok, HE'S gay, definitely and of course I'm pretty sure any guys I see with their arms around each other or kissing are gay. Or maybe just really, really secure in their sexuality.

Communists. That's who.

Oh god, SO many. Let's see... Battlefield Earth. Yep. I liked it and I'm not ashamed. All the Resident Evil movies Dredd John Carter Alien vs Predator 1 and 2 Crank 2 And that's all I can think of off the top of my head. But I usually end up really liking movies that critics hate and hating a lot of the ones they like.

I would pay out the ass to do that if that was actually a thing. Or even better, you can get on a floating piece of wood that's easily big enough for two people then have an actor who pretends to freeze to death right in front of you because he "can't get on". Yeah, still not over that James Cameron.....

I totally agree about the doing things over and over thing. I hate that. Always have. Ever since I was in 4th grade and the teacher would give me back a paper or a worksheet I did wrong and instead of giving me a bad grade she'd write "re-do" on it. I always just wanted to take the failing grade and move the eff on. It's hard enough to focus on some things once, doing things over and over is the worst kind of torture and I'm sorry you have to go through it
-
No way. I've dated girls and I hated it. Not just because the sex was meh but I just don't like being that close to girls with their girl problems and girl differences and girl delicateness. And that probably sounds at least kinda sexist, so sorry if anyone's offended. The best relationship of any kind that I've had is with my boyfriend and I wouldn't want to go through life without that and have to try and find something like that with a girl, which I know for a fact I'll never be able to do.
-
That's stupid. Really, really stupid. Did they give any reason or were they just "yeah, it's historically significant and a great sport, so let's get rid of it! Man, we're awesome!"

Valentine's Day is a big deal for me and my boyfriend, especially this year since we're finally gonna get to do one of our *ahem* "costume" fantasies. But I'd pick dinner too. Flowers are nice, but they die and I don't like chocolate. But dinner is fun and romantic and we have so many restaurants that we like going to. The only thing that's a bit of a pain in the ass is getting there early enough so you don't have to wait an hour, since it's not exactly an original idea, lol. We learned that lesson our first Valentine's Day together.

Rework it into a comedy and it could be awesome, but I think it might be a bit hard to take it seriously. But that's just my opinion.

It happened to me for the first time ever a few days ago. I couldn't write more than 300 words for three days straight, it was horrible. I don't even know if it's over yet since I took two days off to just do other things and think about the story whenever my mind just naturally went there instead of trying to force it. I have more ideas, but we'll see if it helps with the whole actually writing thing tomorrow. If it helps though, sometimes I find it easier to imagine a conversation between my characters in my head and just have the story go from there. *shrugs* It didn't help with the writers block for me, but maybe you'll have more luck.

I still need to beat 2 I wanna play this one since it's co-op and my boyfriend loves the series, but I need to at least get through No No Kuni and Fire Emblem: Awakening before I can go back to DS2, so it'll be a while
-
When I was a kid I loved Tornado Rex and Mouse Trap. I could play them all day. When I got older it was pretty much just Monopoly and Clue. I have a Metal Gear Solid version of RISK sitting in my closet, but I haven't been able to get enough people together to play it yet >_>

Mortal Kombat is easily the best video game adaptation. They got everything mostly right and Christopher Lambert was hilariously awesome as Raiden. Wreck-It Ralph is the best movie about video games without being an adaptation though. I personally love Street Fighter just because Everything Bison says is quotable gold, lol. Annihilation and Legend of Chun-Li were crap though. Max Payne was also pretty terrible. Honestly I think it's one of the worst video game movies I've ever seen beause it totally missed the point of the game and it was boring as f***. One series I really like though? The Resident Evil movies. Well, all but the last one, which was kinda boring. If you just go into them acepting that they're different than the games with different canon and continuity and that's how they were supposed to be from the start, you can enjoy them. At least I can. I just hope the next one doesnt try to pull too much from RE6. The faster we forget that game ever happened, the better.

I'm not in the self loathing category either, but I did have a problem coming out. For a lot of different reasons. At first it was because I'm ridiculously private, if I don't think something is anyone elses business I won't talk about it and I get pissed if someone asks about it, even if it's something small like "what are you doing today?" But when I decided that, yeah, ok sure it's other peoples business now because I'm in a relationship and I don't wanna hide it I still had a problem telling my parents. I wasn't even worried that they'd have a problem with it, I was 99% sure that they wouldn't and even if they did they're the type of people who would pretend they didn't so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable, but for me I just felt really weird about people who've known me all my life suddenly looking at me and only seeing "the gay kid", even if they weren't being judgey about it. Plus, when you tell someone something you lose control of the information. My mom's told me some pretty personal stuff that her friends told her about their kids and families without me even asking, and I didn't want her to tell all her friends about me and have them talk about me behind my back, so even when I did tell her I made sure she didn't tell anyone else until pretty recently actually. I totally agree with Y_B about the gay "comunity" though. It's definitely not a commuity, it's a clique, and like any clique it's only great if you're exactly like everyone else. But if you don't dress right or act right or have the right opinions or think the right way then you're ignored or made fun of or insulted or told you're a self hater or not a "real" gay. It's so stupid and high school and it'll never stop amazing me how a group of people that can legitimately say that they suffer from bigotry and hate can turn around and do the same damn thing to "their own kind".
