And what's wrong with getting emotionally involved? Wouldn't it be worse to be indifferent or cynical? You can care, but manage to keep an appropriate professional relationship.. Not that it's always easy.

"Billy and Danny" in the college section of Nifty is very romantic and has happy endings. I don't think it's cheesy, and it has a lot of great family values contrasted with some crappy ones. It starts off when they are in college and goes forward.

Put those two statements together, and perhaps you'd do better than you think you will. You'll have to work at it, and deal with your need to be needed, and learn to put the patients' needs above that. But wouldn't any good caring person have to do that to be a helpful therapist? And you know what to watch out for. Or you might want to consider some other flavor of psychologist other than therapist. I'm not trying to talk you into or out of anything, just pointing out different bits of the self-understanding you expressed and suggesting that you look at what they say about each other.

Sorry about that. As I studied more languages throughout my education, I found more and more languages I couldn't spell in. A Greek name in English gives me a way to mess up in two languages at once. And I'm with you in hoping that his answer makes the captain see that he is the prime candidate for the Washington team.

You are truly a good and unselfish friend. -
You definitely won't cry at that one. It's nicely made and the look is very good. The actors do a fine job, especially the guy who plays Murrow. But I can't imagine that anybody will get particularly involved emotionally. The movie plays it cool. And what's with the lady who sings every now and then? She's at CBS, but seems to have no relationship to the film otherwise.

Modern meanings of the term come from its use in the King James version of Matthew in the phrase "jot and tittle," meaning something like a minor detail. That maybe came from the Hebrew letters yod and teth. The yod at least is a little letter. I don't know the Hebrew for a log way, though.

Well, we don't know that they ever actually met. OK, so someone likely introduced the moderator to the group, so SB would have heard his name. But from what little that has been said, I see the possibility that a hot junior went to some trouble to find out SB's name, and then sought him out to speak to him.

I believe it. I intended it as a perfectly serious post. There are surely more important things to live for, but I can't really predict that you are going to meet a guy within 5 years that will make all the hell between now and then worth all the pain. (Though I bet there's a really good chance of that, and it would be a shame for you not to stick around and find out if it does happen.) But I can pretty safely predict that Dom's got a lot of great chapters ahead for us, and it would be a shame for you to miss them.

As far as languages go, Latin is pretty easy. It's logical and predictable. There aren't a lot of irregular verbs. Nouns are pretty regular, except for some proper names in which the nominative is a word unrelated to the genitive (Jupiter, Jovis, e. g.). You do have a bunch of pronouns to learn, but once you do, you can hic haec hoc until you die or become senile. Do you really want to get invoved with a junior?

No, 46 is "mid-forties." Late forties starts about 48 3/4 or so.

I can't see how suicide could be an option for a Domaholic. There's maybe 15 or 20 chapters of "Desert Dropping" to go, and then there's the sequel to TLW about Dennis, and Dom's thinking of trying another short story, but it could turn into an epic. By then Dom might be in the mood to write the story about Taylor. Just the thought of dying without ever finding out how the stories come out makes me want to drive a lot more carefully, etc.

That's an interesting reaction. Like him or not, Hemmingway wrote some of the most economic, direct prose ever. Often that's what his detractors don't like. -
Works for me. Come to think of it, I wish our vice-president were psychic. His predictions about the Iraq war and particularly the aftermath could have used some forethought if not foreknowledge.
