Got into the habit of using "soft" to describe this sort of day from using it at faire. The "fine" got tacked on because I would also suggest it as a fine time for a last thorough washing before cooler weather set in, particularly since a couple of shops on grounds sold handmade soaps.

G'day y'all. It's a fine soft day here. Gentle rain has been falling through much of the night and morning though the forecast says it should end later. Temp is decidely cooler, 68/20° at the moment and not expected to warm beyond mid-70's/23°.

The things I like best are because you never walk in the planting bed the ground is easier to turn by hand and since the growing space is raised you needn't bend so far. I've only ever raised my beds 6 inches though I've known some folks to use beds raised 8-12 inches. The deeper beds are nice for root veggies. Raised beds are also nice if your soil tends towards being wet. The beds drain better, of course in hot weather they dry out more quickly and require watering more frequently. Actually, I rarely turned the soil. Most often I use a fork to lift and loosen it. That method doesn't disturb the soil layers as much but still allows adding amendments and better root developement.

I must tell you I envy you your garden Marty. I thoroughly enjoy "playing" in the dirt and making things grow. Something I get from my maternal grandmother I suspect though my dad's dad always had a large garden. Reading about the things you've planted reminds me of the pleasure had when I was able garden. Though I am intrigued to hear you mention harvesting your peas and potatoes. Here we would plant those in March and harvest in June as summer is too hot to grow them.

G'day y'all. It's been a cooler mostly overcast day. Currently 80/27° and though the relative humidity is lower than it has been lately it's still enough to make it seem 82/28°. The pup and I had a pleasant walk this morning as it was the coolest morning in a while. Thistle was a bit rowdy running and barking asking to play. We didn't, instead we just walked further and faster. Our adventure for the day was spending 3 hours at the shop weeding and cleaning up the area around it. I am the one responsible for the garden/groundskeeping chores. Even though the shop will not be open this season it needs to appear tidy. We've spent the last few hours resting quietly as I developed a bit of nasty migraine. Tonight's dinner will be a warm pit beef sandwich, potato slad and fresh steamed corn on the cob with fresh peach tart for after.

Yeah. I can understand that. It felt like I was back in SC this morning it was so muggy. Current temp is 84/29°, warmer than forecast and even though the relative humidity has lessened it still feels like 87/31°. We've spent most of the day indoors though I am about to venture out for groceries.

It's been overcast here most of the day and is forecast to remain so. Current temp is 80/27° but with the tropical humidity it feels like 84/29°. Not expecting it to get much warmer but storms are. We are under a flash flood watch in my area. Mowed my lawn this morning and cleaned up around the edges. It's also trash day so the bin had to be set out. I've decided it's not all the comfortable outdoors. I think we'll head inside.

No BIG10 football this season so that means no Penn State games on those Saturdays I'll be home this fall. In the past I missed most of the games because of working at the faire. Speaking of working at the faire. I had texts this afternoon stating that my friends who own the kilt shop have decided not to open for this season. That pleased both mum and I since it removes a potential source of COVID risk. This Autumn will be like no other.
