That history gets illuminated more as the story goes on, as you've seen. I hope the tidbits are enough.

The title gains more connections here and there later in the book, one of them in a couple more weeks. And yes, it was a pun. A really silly, bad thing lol. It's supposed to be a journal, not formal writing, so sometimes he laughs at himself a little.

There is definitely a thread of mystery in the background here. Maybe by the end of the book that will be solved. You may even guess what's going on before then; it wouldn't really surprise me. One thing is for sure, though - Emma is a thorough planner. She has plans and contingencies for everything. St. John was probably on her radar long before this summer. Whether or not the timing of when she needed him was a coincidence is something else entirely...

I find that interesting, the 'if you do this be discreet but if I find out it's over' mentality. I think for me it has to be one way or the other. I haven't been in a situation of being cheated on before, so I have no idea how I'd react. To be honest, I'm pretty sure I'd rather know to one extent or another. But... the relationship has to be secure. There has to be communication and terms of service if the sex aspect of the relationship is open. My current partner and I don't have that arrangement, but who knows. I know lots of people that have sexually open relationships and are absolutely happy and fine with things - I know a couple that has been together since the late 80s with this arrangement. Anyway, John is not the open type. He's too possessive and jealous, I think. Part of the passion (the fire!) in his personality. A threesome is one thing, but open relationship is another entirely.

St. John definitely does anger well, and it's something he needs to deal with. He's had help in the past, but it's hard when your life has taken yet another shitty turn, isn't it?

He's definitely isolated. Maybe we'll discover eventually exactly why that is. Was it self-imposed? Was it Dom? Both?

I'm glad I seem to have been able to carry forward these things.
  8. He'll get there eventually, I think. Some bumps in the road, and maybe here and there some times to relax. We'll see where life takes him.
  9. Yeah, he didn't have it easy at all. I really like that Bobby doesn't have a 'typical male' reaction here. It's telling of the kind of guy he is, and maybe things that he's seen and experienced himself.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, guys. Cut Emma some slack. She's a very, very savvy woman and she knew exactly what she was doing. It sounds, though, that she was boxed into a tight place as far as hiring Bobby back to teach those classes. She must have some confidence that the two of them will be able to keep things under wraps. Perhaps icily civil, lol.

John is definitely haunted by the past, and Bobby is part of that. He's someone John has done his damnedest to block out, for a lot of reasons... To answer your question, Parker, it's part of the whole everybody living together situation that they have at Xavier's. Most of the faculty have living quarters on campus, and definitely all of those that are X-men. I'm sure to one extent or another they try to keep their romantic situations out of the school dynamics, but these things tend to spill over no matter what you are doing - I definitely saw some of that at my own high school, and it wasn't this kind of boarding school either!

Yeah, he's definitely getting into it, and at this point maybe it's more ego-stroking than anything else. He's building the course *he* would have wanted to take, not necessarily the one his students can handle.
  13. Teaching is a tough job. Most people don't appreciate how tough it is, how much work happens beyond the classroom, and in a lot of places how poorly compensated teachers are for their work. John's definitely hitting a hard learning curve, but he's pretty resilient, even if he doesn't believe it.
  14. It was definitely a lesson for everyone involved, whether it was John, Julian or his other students. If it had been me that had been spanked, I would have been seriously scarred, but Julian and I are very different people. But Emma's a good boss. She knows her students and she knows her faculty - probably better than many of them would like, too. Thanks for reading, guys.
  15. Yeah, I think John isn't anywhere near ready for making peace with Dom. Maybe his day in court will help move things along. Those cycles are a tough nut to crack, though.
  16. You know, it *is* kind of sad that John isn't getting counselling - even the push to get it from his friends. Maybe that will happen in the future? Who knows. Vange was a random favourite minor character of mine from back in the day, so I just had to include her!
  17. His family is definitely a huge issue. Maybe someday he will, but he's got other, more immediate things to focus on right now.
  18. There is nothing about this chapter that isn't to love. Wonderful, even if it is a bit teasing.

    Chapter 12

I'm still romantically Team Alek, even though it seems highly unlikely that is possible. This was a great, mentally healthy chapter for Liam. Maybe for Alek too. I hope Liam didn't read too much into Alek not slumping as much as he thought he would. Interesting that he was looking for the gestures of pining, even though Liam had left the illusion of being with Nathan linger. Of course part of Alek was going to have to start to give up on hope, especially when the guy seems to be one like Nathan. Liam realizes he's still quite bitter, but maybe he needs to consider how his own relationship with his family has shaped some aspects of that bitterness.
  20. We knew Park would have his reasons for his attack. I'm glad it was just training and not something of a greater threat to the mission.
  21. It's a bit teasingly rude for them to show up like that, lol.
  22. Oh. Okay. Thanks.
  23. You can see the chapters again? Argh. They had disappeared before... I thought that bug was fixed. Sigh. Thanks for the restraint, I guess. Like I told Tim before, I won't be mad if you read ahead. There just won't be more put up for a while. I'm glad you like what Bobby has been doing. He's definitely trying, both for John and for himself. Whether or not he's getting everything right...
  24. Actually, speaking of Warren, I was really impressed by him once again in this chapter. He's become so dedicated to his mate, to the point of worrying that he might hurt her during his shift and is not willing to take any risks with it. Awesome.
