Yeah, way too laidback for what is happening to Thad.
While WolfM sorta answered this, I'm not buying all of it.
See, that's the part I don't buy. Ethan isn't cut, so the blood-to-blood transfer cannot occur that way. Since this has never happened before, it's inconsistent at the least.
My own paranoid self keeps thinking something else is going on.
I'm thinking the sole purpose of Devin being allowed to tell Michael all of this is because he wants to be with Michael, um, forever.
As for how they change, Bill has kinda left that sorta open-ended at the moment, hasn't he?
It was mentioned that there were lots more skinwalkers now than before. So yeah. It stands to reason that someone knows how to do this.
I've always liked Bill's stories. I was first introduced to Sword of Kings back in 2015. Been hooked on his writing ever since.
It's pretty obvious that the ritual(s) have survived.
I wonder when Michael will realize that he is being told all of this history because Devin wants Michael to join him.
The wrong frame of reference as well as the wrong questions to ask.
As long as Thad is recovering, Wade will be busy. If Aiden and Ethan thought it took a paired beta to act as Alpha, that equation just got sunk.
Now add into this mix that Trevor came in and took complete control of the situation. Right up to the point where he ordered the disposition of his two Alphas in the last chapter. While he apologized, that apology came with no remorse for doing that. One Alpha to another... That was how it looked to me. That was how you wrote it!
LOL!!! Look at me! Arguing with the author!
See? It's exactly this quote that makes me think Trevor will be Alpha to the Pit River pack.
When you and your wolf thinks that a family member was nearly killed... You're ready. While I don't know what the tipping point is, I'm going to assume that Trevor is but a step away from being able to shift into a hybrid form.
I'm thinking that imprinting is already taking place. Even if Trevor isn't aware of it.
Trevor was trying to place all the aspects of what was happening in some kind of order. Chaos often makes sense, after the fact.
We've seen how Trevor has stepped up to the plate and become the Alpha the pack needs. Foreshadowing?
They say that three things are a sign of old age. Memory loss is the first. Um, I don't remember the other two!
And all the while he's talking to Aiden as if Aiden must lead, follow or get the fuck out of the way. Personally? Trevor just announced that he is a candidate for Alpha of this pack.
I agree. A bit more characterization would have been good. Along with that, some back story and tidbits of F'rian's history leading up to some of the early scenes at the weyr would have evened out the story.
I think the biggest roadblock was the idea of F'rian's back story wasn't learned until after the intimate encounters. J'day didn't need to know this, just the audience. It would have made F'rian's fears and frustrations more real.
Speculation by the reader is good, but knowledge of the back story makes the character much more believable.
None of this is to say I didn't enjoy the story, just a way to make it better.
Yup. F'rian does need to deal with his past. I can only imagine what F'rian will think if he finds out about the move from anyone but J'day.
Either scenario does not bode well.
I don't know where that thought comes from, but... The kid is Hold-bred and didn't know about Greens and mating flights. Hmm. raped. Is that what you mean?
Anyway, I'm late to the party but the story appears to be off to a good start. I'll keep reading.
If such reactions were only a couple of times, I don't see a problem. It's when/if Trevor has a reaction every time Dorian is brought up that would defeat the scheme.
I think Trevor is not involved and invested enough with this pack, that revenge would not be far from his thoughts.
I'm thinking that the Mckinneys will become history!
As Trevor gets more involved with the pack, it could be that he becomes an Alpha and the Pit Pack becomes a sub-pack within Aiden & Ethen's leadership.
Just throwing that out there...
Another possibility, but one I doubt would happen.
Oh, Yes!
Knowing Trevor had things under control, I would expect that a bunch of stuff was happening from that flight. All in the background.
I would dispute that! While I'm busy with other stuff, Monday is a ways away!!!
Yeah. I'm thinking another Alpha may be surfacing. This would solve many problems with and within the pack.
Oh, Bill! You know I'm just speculating. Not trying to "get ahead" of you. Just trying to work out in my mind, what I perceive as clues!
Of course, I'll stick around for "the rest of the story."
Hmm, Shapeshifters. Skinwalkers that are good people instead of the monsters that are generally portrayed as! And male only... That rings true as far as I remember.
Obviously, there's more to this. I hazard to guess that the snake venom wasn't really venom. It had something to do with transferring the ability to the white man that was bitten.
Thanks, Bill.
@VBlew, I'm also looking forward to the reveal of the mysteries.
@Bill W sometimes you surprise me. This lack of character development and the piling on of one mystery after another is a distinct shift in your writing. Needless to say, I like it!
