Yes but that was an umbrella, a real physical object and a single dog. When there are multiple animals all seeming to see the same (or similar) thing, which you cannot see, It raises questions. Then again, you have to look at definitions of ghosts. Maybe it wasn't a disembodied person, maybe it was a non-bodied personality, an ethereal alien. a Demon. or a... um.. pesudodragon. Do I beleive in ghosts? Do they believe in me? What happens? they fall, and get faster as they approach the big crunch. I don't think there are many people who can choose not to become attached in someway to someone they have spoken to in anything more than a cursory way. I become attached. I can't help it. Luckily, thus far, I've not had to go through the pain of losing anyone, though there were times when I thought I had and/or was close to. My life would be duller and boring-er than it is already if I didn't have my friends. I choose attachment and the dangers that go along with it.

I disagree jamie. I dont think using an implement to discipline a child is right. Sure I'd love to take some implements to some of the little <explitive>s that I went to school with. but I'm not their parent (their parents let them run wild unfortunately) An open handed smack to their ass is more appropriate (waits for calls of molestation from the PC crew). Why the ass? it is the flabbyest part, theres little bone (and being hit somewhere bony is much more painful) and there is little that can be majorly damaged, but it still hurts. Why no implements? because then the implements are doing the punisment, and I dont like that. just personal feelings, but leaving whelts across the back of someones thighs just isn't the cure. And really It shouldn't take more than one hit. IMHO. Training the kid to be respectful (not the point of treating them like an army recruit, that is abusing your parental power), kind and appreciative needs to be done when they're young, you want them to know that you're still on their side but if they slip up they need to know that what they did was wrong. This world would be much better if adults disciplined their kids properly when needed. Grounding doesn't work if they retain their TV, computer-games, phone, sweets (candy), dessert and other such privilages. Explusion from school doesn't work if the kids parents dont give a crap, it is just a free holiday for someone who pretty much wasn't going to do the work anyway. You cant fix a kid once they know they can get away with murder. Make sure the lines are clear early on.

Mine is a painting for a movie poster by a strange swiss (I think) surrealist painter. H.R. Giger He's the one who designed the Alien from the Alien series. and did a load of other. really really creepy stuff. I use it everywhere, because it is cool. *Tries to find a deep philosophical/psychological reason for it..... * *Fails* (p.s. the painting is called "future kill machine" and it does have a sequel, but like all sequels it isn't as good. as the original)

Um.. umm... No. They would not become I (the imaginary number used on maths) because I is the square root of minus 1. They technically become infinity (which while it is technically imaginary (in that it cannot truely be defined), isn't the imaginary number) dividing closer and closer to zero trends towards infinity. (Zero is the asymptote of the function f(x)=1/x).. *drops out of maths geek mode*

I've been warned off of Dells because of screen flexing problems (as razor reported) and warned off of HP (by an employee of HP) for almost the same reason. And their (fullsize) PC's aren't that great if you're ever considering manually upgrading components. (which I do...) The IBM Thinkpads are apparently okay, but.. expensive. VAIO get a good write up. I've played around on Gateways a few times as well, they seem reasonable. On the subject of virus scanners. I use AVG free, like rknapp, but I've also got a trial copy of their anti-spyware program (previously Ewido) and even now the trial period is over I use it to system scan and pickup all the evil nasties. So I'd reccomend that as well. (I'm going to get a full version for uni) I've had both McAfee and Norton at various times. They were easy to remove... but then again I do a complete re-install about once a year. So I just nuked them off of the harddrive. As drew said, Openoffice is good, if a bit slow on load up (I don't have any versions of windows office newer than about 2000 so I can't comment on its load up time in relation to openoffice) its got all the stuff that office does AFAIK, but can save in file types compatible with practically any system, even much older versions of word.. back to 6.0 IIRC. And it is free. Which is always good Big harddrives are good. Very good. Core 2 Duo equipped laptops are good, they draw less power than equivalent AMD processors, giving you more battery life, and they'll also stay cooler, which is also very good. What is she going to be studying at College? if she's going to be spending alot of time infront of the laptop, I'd not reccomend the smaller screened ones, but the larger the screen, the heavier it'll be. *stops rambling*
