    Chapter 2

Good fun. I get the feeling Carter's played this game before.

    Chapter 1

I like Jackson. Looks like it could be an interesting party.
  3. Thank you for reading and commenting on the story @CscottyCA I'm glad you found the first chapter interesting and I hope you are able to see it through. Only 10 chapters but I can pretty much guarantee that you won't like Jeff that much. Interesting that you picked up on the City Hall, which in the seventies was labelled 'the ugliest building in the world' by the press. This clue seemed to escaped everyone else. As for the year; your very close.
  4. Excellent Carlos. Well done @Hunter Thomson (looking forward to reading your gay curling romance) @northie @MacGreg and @AC Benus (Haven't finished with Moby-Dick yet).

I agree @nighthawke this is a particularly nasty and cowardly thing to do. In this story Simon is 16-years-old but still a victim of his evil father.

I hope you can bring yourself to continue Tim, although I can't promise you it's going to get much better just yet.
  7. Thanks @SolarMaxx Robbie has come a long way in terms of his personality and he has learned a few lessons too. There are a few hurdles left to clear but he's better equipped now both emotionally and physically for the final stretch. The finish line is in sight.

Yes, it's teetering you might say and Simon's presence may well tip the balance the wrong way. Jeff is a formidable man, although he doesn't see himself as being this way and he really wasn't cut-out to be a single parent or maybe even a parent at all. We'll see how he gets on. he's going to have to step up to the plate if he has any chance at all. Thanks @deville
  9. God forbid! Just the thought of that is enough to turn my stomach!
  10. Thanks @Butcher56 I think you're right about Alex. He needs help to get through some quite serious problems but staying with the family for too long will prove problematic for Robbie. There are a lot of issues to consider here and I would expect the social workers will want to move Alex and his brother to a more suitable home where they can have their own separate bedrooms. Considering the age difference, this would be important. Even though Alex has been almost a father to Luke; they are, of course, actually brothers. Tom and Robbie will have to say goodbye to each other yet again soon, although this time will be a lot easier than the first and this re-union will give them plenty of reasons to keep in touch on a regular basis.

Oops! It's started already. I totally agree @empresslovesreading Jeff is definitely all of the above and deserves the really good kick that you kindly offer. You may be the first in line considering your location but I expect there to be a line forming quite soon. That was a fairly scary start to a date. I suppose it provided you with plenty of conversation for the rest of the evening. That's an ice-breaker if ever I've heard it. It's cool that you went on to be married. Not a shotgun wedding, I hope. Thanks for your comment.

Without giving too much away, I'm fairly certain that Jeff will provide some serious competition for Don and Tyrone in the hate stakes. Of course, as Jeff is the narrator, I may have to start wearing some body armour soon.

Thanks @Israfil I think it probably is a bit of a risk and I don't expect Jeff to have many, if any supporters around here. He will be despised, without doubt. The fact that he's the narrator may make it a little difficult for some people to read and it will be interesting to see what comments I get later in the story. Naturally, this is one character I can say for certain, does not share any of my personal attributes or beliefs. He has got some qualities and shown some good intentions as you point out but they will be difficult to find under all the bullshit. Jon is another complex character who is probably choosing what he thinks is the easy way out at the moment. The story is set at a time when society wasn't quite as accepting as it is now.

I don't want to upset any religious nuts out there who may happen to accidentally find themselves on a gay story site. Therefore the religion in the story is purely fictitious and not based on any particular faith. However, the one's that you name would probably be good examples.

Thanks @Sweetlion Jon knows something but he doesn't understand it or know how to deal with it. He needs guidance which he's not getting because everyone is too scared to talk to the dad. Jeff may not be a religious nut but Simon's dad definitely is.

Thanks, Gary. Praise indeed. Jeff certainly has his head buried deep in the sand and it makes you wonder what it's going to take for him to work it out. I can't imagine what it would be like to shoot your own son or anyone for that matter but as we know those kind of accidents/mistakes happen quite a lot. Jeff was quite disturbed by it but turning to the bottle will only make things worse. Perhaps they can all think themselves lucky that he was reasonably sober that night.

Thanks, Carlos. I appreciate your help. I'm very happy with the way this is turning out. Now I'm waiting for the backlash that Jeff is going to cause.

Not sure what happened here but I've removed them now. Oh and wrong year anyway so best scrap that image.
  20. I used to love Saturday mornings but that was before the drinking took hold of me. Weekends were a disruption I could do without. No work meant having to stay home and do real work, like fixing fences. I listened to my elderly neighbor Fred, bang in nails from eight o’clock that morning. It put me in a foul mood as I watched him from my bedroom window, aiming an imaginary rifle at his balding head. I had taken similar shots in real life to kill people who I never knew and felt good about it
  21. And there's also another chapter of the Canny Cockney or is it the Cocky Canuck? By that dodgy geezer!
  22. Thanks @Sweetlion I think the majority feel that Alex would make a better friend than lover and this is probably correct. Robbie will need to tread carefully because a mistake could prove very costly. Losing Nathan would definitely hit hit very hard. Alex needs professional help with a lot his issues. I think that Robbie can help to a certain extent but he's not going to be able to provide the solution for his friend.
  23. I do definitely agree with this statement, Tim. Robbie is very insecure and needs routine rather than chaos. He is happier when organized, which shows even in the way he keeps his half of the room he shares with his untidy brother. He often describes Nathan as being like a whirlwind and unpredictable which he isn't comfortable with but Alex also brings a lot of disruption which Robbie doesn't know how to handle. Tom is probably better for Robbie as a friend but he will have to go back soon causing more disruption in Robbie's head. Thanks @Timothy M.
  24. Yes, I don't see this ending well for him. Maybe Andy would be doing him a big favour if he throttled him now. If Andy survives that himself that is. I just realized this is the wrong story.
  25. Google tells me that it would take 38 hours to drive from Cobourg, Ontario to Palm Springs or 3 days by train and Greyhound. They could fly, I suppose, but still not possible for a day trip unless Nathan has his own private jet and they have to be back in time for their trip to Niagara Falls. I agree that it will be difficult for Robbie with Alex so close on a daily basis but other than Nicola the rest of the family are unaware of their history. Thanks @Benji
