That was both great and hard to read. Eric astounded me. S. Donelly didn't much and T. Donelly not at all. I am relieved that Owen has at least two relatives who stand by him.

I had to read this again. And I found Margot being the maid of "honour" very fitting because she showed her true metal by outing herself to a whole community. Until that feat I found her role at the ceremony deliciously ironic. And it made me terribly sad and shocked to realize that Owen hasn't experienced more kindness from his family than Beth's four words and embrace. And this does not bode well for Owen.

Finally. And Beth's reaction is probably what we all felt, and so so true! I wonder what the parents' reactions will be and if they have an ounce of love for their son and daughter.

Wow! This becomes more and more complex. Tag's grandfather seemed to have been a man totally different from his son, who won't stop at nothing to get his way. And I love how tightly knit the people on Nasser are. Tag has ended up in the perfect place for himself. And he knows that. Great story! Thank you!

Good to see Margot nervous for a change. Made me smile. Both her and Owen have struck gold with their lovers. I doubt Paige's wedding will be soon forgotten, unless something causes a detonation before that day.

If I got this as a complete novel I could not put it down. So many different threads of the plot woven together here. Ash's hands have felt what his own father did to him or caused to happen to him. I am impressed - not only with Ash's respect of the man he loves but everybody else accepting each other, supporting each other. I would welcome very much if James, Bert and Taggert working together could outfox Yoder. James seemed to indicate that things might not be as they seem.

Finally - I am repeating myself. At last he is acting and not only reacting, or rather not reacting / deceiving. I love how caring and observant Owen is. This is growing into a loving and fruitful relationship. They are there for each other. And that is so beautiful to see

That's what I was hoping for. That he finally decides to face his problem. To go for what he really wants. Incredible, his parents. Have they ever asked their son what he wants? Have they seen him as his own person? Probably never. Typical, when there is only one child...

Finally a breather for Owen. And I see faint silver lining at the dark cloud on the horizon. Owen might find the strength of saying no and asking Beth and Eric for help. I cannot see him doing it on his own. The last chapter was suffocating. I welcome Ryder's honesty and care. Owen will need every bit of help he can get in order to get out of the detonation unscathed. His family is in for a ride as well.

God, that was hard to read. You have made me feel Owen's despair and I am shocked more than ever at the helplessness he feels. What a family! Too cruel and self absorbed to realize that they are crushing and choking their only child. How they have maimed him into obedience is sickening. Ryder is right, they have taken him prisoner. Margot surprises me, though. The first time for many chapters that I am not angry at her.

I do not believe Jules will turn up, unless Margot was completely truthful to her online and vented her frustration with Owen and Ryder. Vermont is quite a distance... An intriguing thought, however. Shakespearian almost and definitely comedy and tragedy combined, anything is possible.... I am wondering how Ryder will help Owen. Being there for him will only work as long as Owen lets him be there. And how will Ryder fond a way to do that with Margot monopolising "her fiancé"? Unimaginable. So Owen must put a distance between her and himself. Does he even know how to do that????

Lying is indeed Owen's "thing". He has taken that one step further. Before I remember him lying only by keeping quiet and letting people think they know him. The sooner this blows up the better. There is nothing gained by waiting. I can't imagine Owen going along with everything Margot will expect from him. She will be angry with him anyway for not reacting to her texts. We'll see...

Beautiful. And promising. I am so relieved that Owen left with Ryder. A momentous decision for him, even if he needed Beth's approval. It is a step forward. In the right direction. And I am really impressed by Ryder. He is great with the kids. And they simply accept him. Ellie's painting also prompts him to move forward. Beautiful image.

How can this play out without high drama? I am aghast that the parents do not see Owen. They are in for a lot of surprises, to put it mildly. I am relieved that Ryder does not set an ultimatum. At the moment Owen does not have it in him to break free and stand up for himself. I wonder what it will take for him to take that step... Ryder coming with Jules to the party would be perfect and a fairy tale. And this story is anything but.
