  4. I had never been to the Fish and Antlers as a customer. And whilst I had seen parts of the evening service, I had never been there for lunch. Lunch was my downtime. Micky seated me with only a raised eyebrow and handed me a thin folded menu that felt expensive it my hands. I didn’t look. “A glass of tap water and whatever chef has got handy.” “Bay…” Micky’s voice was low, concerned, “You want me to tell him it’s you?” Under the table I picked at the seams of my shorts. I was not dressed for t

  8. no more running.... the difference in two days in turning up during service, you can't just send someone away. also, you never gotten annoyed with being angry with someone? Issac doesn't want to feel that forever either. he knows he's been unreasonable.
  9. secretsides has a point with Zu's hand. the difference in two days in turning up during service, you can't just send someone away. also, you never gotten annoyed with being angry with someone? Issac doesn't want to feel that forever either. he knows he's been unreasonable.

  11. honesty what is the difference between a beta reader and an editor? i don't know...
  12. i love good manga recommendations. Yellow was also rather well balanced. I think the smoking/drinking thing is a cultural gender-stereotyping and bad boy combo. most manga (and i know, not all) stick rather closely to traditional gender roles. MARS, which was a heterosexual relationship but still awesome, was very similar. he guy smokes and drinks to what seems to the Japanese extrodinary levels. remember, when water was too impure to drink, the British (and therefore american by proxy) invented beer and spirits. the Asian's invented tea. there's your cultural shift.
  13. you are correct. technically he starts in manchester and ends up in bton, but i like to keep things broad. also means people get less fussy with buildings and parks that don't actually exist. The South Alaska is what the Engine Rooms would have been if the owners had stuck to their guns and not wasted all their money holding private parties. we miss our club

  17. Me and my best Lady Fox have a mantra which we use often in Brighton city centre: Just because you CAN fit in it, doesn't mean you should wear it.
  18. New Year’s Day dawned bright and cold to find me staring at the ceiling in Zach’s room. His parents had let him have a few of us over for a little midnight party to bring in the New Year and at about three in the morning we had finally retired. Miles and David were sprawled on the double sofa set downstairs, but Zach had set me up on the futon-sofa bed in his room and I had spent the night not sleeping, staring at the ceiling and counting the swirls and dimples of the textured plasterwork and th
  19. this is my new favourite phrase “That’s okay. Life doesn’t always fit into neat little boxes. Sometimes we have to hammer out the corners, customizing it until it conforms to us.”
  20. would you forgive your first love/crush/boyfriend/bestfriend who abandoned you when you came out? Actually you probably would, you're a nicer guy than i am

  25. I’d told my parents when I’d gotten home that I was gay and I was sure about it and that they didn’t have to worry, and then I’d gone for the longest run of my life and for some completely unknown reason had ended up at Lena’s house. She’d let me in without a word, and from the look on her face, I knew that Zach had already called her. “So all that shit on your birthday?” Lena handed me a soda as I sat on the floor of her bedroom, panting and shaking with post-run exhaustion. “You knew back the
