Ok, since I had a very busy work weekend and am more than 10 pages behind, I give up trying to catch up and will comment one reply at a time! First off, you did an excellent job of describing a farriers visit. I know horse people who could not do as well! Remember peeps, a Shadow Shifter and a Shadow Mage are in no way the same critters! While I would love to see how they measure up against each other, they are two totally different skill sets. One would think a light shifter would understand the pull of fated mates. Perhaps Asa had to learn about his abilities the hard way with no one to teach him. I'm sure Kbois will fill us in...eventually. That's the key word with our illustrious author. Eventually. As for virtuous? Virtuous=innocent and this crew, myself included, has not been innocent in a very long time. The best some of us can claim is not guilty!

God help stupid people! One of my regular customers endured a month long quarantine of their barn this past summer as a result of Strangles, a viral respirator issue. All is well now, and only one horse passed away as a result. He was VERY old and simply not strong enough to fight it off. As a result of this, the barn owner has decided a two day quarantine will be enforced for any horse going off the ranch. Two days? The incubation period for strangles is two weeks. Most other problems that a quarantine would help curtail also has much longer incubation periods. Two days are useless. But that is not what the stupid part is! When I move horses they get a mesh bag of hay to keep them content in the trailer. Think snacks for toddlers. When trip is done, I routinely have the owner empty the nets in each horses stall. I will not give it to another horse. If it doesn't go to the one who munched on it all day, it ends up in the compost heap. The nets go into the wash with bleach, and my trailers get disinfected between every set of animals. I make it a point to not transmit any diseases between my customers. Well, this ding-a-ling imposing the useless quarantine decided we cannot empty the nets in these two horses quarantine stalls, the "used" hay might make them sick. Oh well, makes no sense, but what ever, the compost heap it is. "Oh wait, don't waste it, you can give it to those two horses over there" Umm, no. If Tippy and Jay don't eat it, it goes to compost as if the horses were exposed to anything, giving the hay to a third and fourth horse now exposes #'s 3 and 4! Dingy just can't understand what I am saying. I said thanks anyway, I will dispose of the hay appropriately. I repeat, God help stupid people!

Ok, since when does the 1st heat wave ( defined as 3 or more consecutive days over 90*) start after Labor Day??? We have had unbearably hot days this year but no streaks of 3 days in a row. Apparently 89* with a high humidity and a "Feels like" over 100 does not count!

Lets see how long it takes till you need to check your phone to know what day of the week it is!

Last time I was being kicked out. This time I had gotten an email about notification settings that I guess I picked a wrong option resulting in my phone binging every post on every bit of content I follow, then while trying to fix that somehow shut down notices from here. I THINK I have it fixed. But then, I thought I had fixed things in the first place!

And we have pistachio butter! Time consuming but delicious. Think part of the problem may be my little food processor is a tad under powered for grinding nuts. Now, off to figure out why I am not getting any notifications from the DIC.

Ok, tim, I have a banking question for you. Why do I need to show my ID to make a CASH deposit with a pre printed deposit slip? Do people really go around making deposits into strangers accounts, using the slips that come with the checks. Then the twit teller wanted my debit card besides! If I wanted to make a deposit thru an ATM, I would have used the drive up!

The really frightening thing is those examples probably were real, not made up in some writers mind

County Faire starts today, horses move onto the showgrounds tomorrow, ( senior ranger agreed with me that horses and 1st night fireworks were NOT a good combo), and now the weather geeks are talking a heat wave, high 90's, high humidity, and heat indexes well over an hundred. Hope the power grid at the park will support the huge fans the horses will need!

You will. Just focus on being home with your men! Had a GOOD call today. Pony I brought to the equine clinic a month ago is ready to come home. Of course, daddy called while I was in the dentist chair!

It would not bother me as much if I ignored my mouth like my hubby does, but I do the brushing, flossing, regular cleanings, and still...

Busy week coming up. Dentist 1st thing in the am Wednesday. County fair also starts Wednesday, so most of the afternoon will be ferrying multiple customers to the fairgrounds. Have one going to a show Saturday. That's eventing, so most of the day S there are anywhere from 10 min to 3 hour breaks between the different disciplines. Sunday is a dressage show in the morning, followed by ferrying all the fair going 4H horses home again in the evening. My new dentist thinks I am being unreasonable to just want whats left of my teeth out and replace them with dentures. I explained that I am tired of putting thousands of dollars into each tooth to have it fail all over again. She asked what I mean. Take for example tooth # 4. Cracked it eating popcorn. Crowned. Abscess. Root canal needing a specialist because of the crown. New crown. Flossing one day and damn thing falls out. Surgery to remove root. Replace with bridge. Bridge fractures. Now she wants to remove one tooth of the anchor, and do a bigger bridge. Nope. I know how you feel waiting on that last day! Best thing I ever did was walk away from my last job for other people.

Missed this update! Glad things are improving for you! My pervious advice still stands, tell jerks to take a long walk off a short pier, and not just intrusive twits re cancer, ALL the jerks. My life improved dramatically when I instituted a no BS policy.

Warning, rant ahead. If you are not in the mood, skip ahead! Had a lady call me to pick up a horse in NY a couple weeks ago. She was quite happy with the cost quote, and horse was delivered to her backyard barn, no issues. She calls me again a week later, asking for a quote to pick up a mare in southern Virginia, a 6+ hour drive each way. That makes the run a 2 day deal. Drive down Saturday, pick up horse Sunday. I charge half the price of the lodgings on a 2 day run. I also charge for estimated toll money, and if I find a route that can cut tolls, I return any unused toll allowance. If tolls go over what I estimate, I eat it, do not charge extra. I give her a quote, explaining again how I set prices. She hems and haws at the cost. I don't hear from her for 2 weeks and assume she has decided on either going for the mare herself or hired another hauler. Today I get a text asking if I will take 20% off my price. I am not in this to get rich. I know horse ownership is expensive. My prices are set as low as possible to still make a small profit. Cutting 20% means I lose money. I apologize, but explain I can't run a business at a loss. She freaks. Calls me greedy, and says I am preventing her kid from getting the new show horse she has fallen in love with. Umm, no, feel free to hire someone else and please lose my number. Rant over. I'm going back to watching the t-storms roll through.
