Thank you for reading it. It's probably one of the most difficult and painful things I have ever written. I had to take a lot of breaks, and by the end of it I was pretty much crying and hating myself. I felt like it was a story that needed to be told, though.
  3. This is an awesome idea!
  4. CHAPTER TWO Brick Shithouse Dave closed the lid on the box with some finality. ‘There. Wish I could help you move these in, too.’ Mellie smiled. ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ll be fine. And you need to get home and prepare for the start of the academic year, too.’ ‘So not fair.’ Dave shook his head and grinned. ‘We should be doing this at the same time. You’re just a month older than me!’ They had celebrated Mellie’s eighteenth birthday with pomp and circumstance. Or, as cl

I know, it's looking pretty grim. What he's doing is fairly horrible.

Yeah, Daniel really needs someone to look out for him. Thank you for your comments, and your continued readership!
  8. I seem to recall an anime or something where each episode was titled after a classical music expression. Like, Andante, Allegro, Prelude.
  9. ...We've hijacked this thread about Halloween and made it about pizza.

Sunday I woke up feeling strangely happy, but as the day progressed it became harder and harder to ignore the approaching Monday. I tried not to think about it, but I had precious little to distract myself with. I mostly stayed in my room, booting up my ancient laptop to watch Firefly for the millionth time, the one dvd box set I owned. Monday morning, I dragged my feet to school. I passed the morning hoping to run into Michael in the corridors, to catch just a glimpse of his smile, because

  12. Actually, a lot of pizza shops in Norway sell what they call 'Chicago pizza', but it's kind of not quite it. Mostly, Italian pizza is the popular thing now, though. More and more Italian pizza places cropping up.

    Chapter 26

    Thank you!
  15. I Am What I Am, from La Cage Aux Folles. There are so many good versions of it, I wouldn't know which one to link to...
  16. In my Nemesis series, the chapters are all named for songs by Placebo, which is my protagonist Nick's favourite band (and one of mine, obvs). In Lavender and Gold, all the chapter titles start in 'The', and are then somehow descriptive of the chapter's contents. Most of the time when I write, though, I don't really do chapter titles, unless something really clicks with it for me. In Storms, the chapters aren't really titled, except with the name of the character whose point of view the chapter is from.
  17. Glad you saw it!
  18. That seems to have fixed it, yes. I haven't got a world, only a series, but maybe I should do that for Hubris instead. Thanks!
  19. I've made YouTube playlists of all the chapter title songs, if you're interested.
  20. Tell me about it. I started writing this book on the 21st of September, it now has 60k words. If I had a social life, I would never have been able to finish it this quickly. Thank you for reading!
  21. I just started posting the third part of a trilogy to my Nemesis series, but I can't get it to be number 3. There is no number 3. Instead it calls itself number 3. I suspect this is because I, under the old series system, added the short story collection Hubris as book 4 before adding book 3, confusing the new system. So now, Loud Like Love is book 4, Hubris is book 5, and there is no book 3, no matter how many times I try to move Loud Like Love up one step. Can something be done about this, so the books show up as the right number?
  22. CHAPTER ONE English Summer Rain Nick scanned the final item and turned to the customer. ‘Would you like a 5p or 10p bag with that?’ He took the customer’s money, handed them a receipt and sat back with a sigh. In a week, everyone he knew would be returning to college, except for him. He would be here. Alone. It was nobody’s fault but his own, and he didn’t even care about completing his A-levels, but he still felt a certain degree of bitterness about it. Out of the corner o
  23. After failing his exams, Nick has dropped out of college and is working part time at a supermarket. With just his music to sustain him emotionally, he turns to other means to help him cope. Dave returns to Dorcrest Independent College to complete is A-levels, and is trying to move on with his life, but that's not so easy when he has such a hard time letting go.
