"Not white" and "exotic" can mean a lot of things, especially if this is what you determined Darius looks like. This guy, with Schluter as last name is not going to register as potential terrorist. In fact, unless he tells people what his ethnicity is, I doubt anyone would automatically assume his exotic looks were Persian at all. Put him in a uniform and he makes a striking naval officer.

Darius may be half Iranian but you have not expounded on him being particularly Persian looking, my supposition is he could be part of the American Born Persian/American Born Arab contingent who see their loyalty lies with the US versus the country their parent/grand parents originated from and sign up to prove/show their loyalty. As to who would be more reviled? Good question, only the gay guy would have to have been in the closet to serve in 2001; whereas an Iranian American is free to serve and not be discharged for his ethnicity.

Wow! Feeling a little flushed, great chapter!

I kind of see any death whether that day or some day later as a result of exposure to the event as a 9.11 death. It's more drawn out but no less tragic. I can totally see Darius jumping in on the war on terror. He's already expressed interest in the military (via his passing on an opportunity) and this may be the event that reignites that interest.

My first experience with porn was when I was very young, my father had left a video in our Betamax. When I turned it on thinking it was the movie I was watching the night before, I got a big eyeful of what I later coined as creepy dad porn. It was pretty traumatic and my mother melting down did nothing to diffuse the situation. My most humorous experience was in my friends' Human Sexuality class. My two friends would drag me to their class after our acting class and before our other acting class and we would secretly eat our nutritionally lacking lunches and be entertained by the freak parade that was this class. One of my two favorite classes was the day the "Pornography Expert" came to discuss porn and it's positive impact on society as a whole. He brought with him hours of footage, which he adroitly cut down to accommodate the two hour class. It spanned all genres straight, gay, kink etc. It was surreal to sit in an auditorium with a couple hundred students as this guy droned on about the various explicit clips. The highlight of the videos was the porn bloopers, where we got to see: A woman puke in a guys lap and then defend her gag reflex by explaining that the reason she vomited was because of morning sickness and that her partner smelled funny. Two guys lose "the moment" because the director kept yelling they were not cheating their bums out enough for the cameras to get a good angle. So long story longer, trauma, surrealism and humor were my most salient responses to my foray into pornography.

Lark needs to be on the perish list; Tony wouldn't be a bad option either . Stream of conscious ponderings...of all the characters, the one that make logical sense to perish is Hank and not for any reason other than being a cop. Jeanine, Madison and Ella are all in NYC but unless they happen to be hanging out in Battery Park that morning I don't see them as victims. Brad and Stef are viable candidates as people who would have reason to be in the towers for business dealings. However, if Stef dies I will probably have to leave GA because my grief will be too overwhelming. I think that whoever ends up leaving the CAP literaryverse will have to have their story threads start pretty soon since the list of folks is pretty left coast centric. I look forward to seeing how it plays out no matter who ends up as the 9.11 sacrifice.

Of all the great days in our lives, it's our birthday that started it all... Happy Birthday!

"I'd have to cheer up in a few hours when André got home, but meanwhile, I grabbed a beer and tried to convince myself that Brown had made a huge mistake, and that years from now when I won a Nobel Prize or something there would be a hand-wringing meeting where everyone would try to figure out how a gem like me escaped them. Hey, at least I can dream." This quote sums up that very real feeling of rejection and just adds an adorably humble layer to JP overall. It's the little vignettes like this and the hot cousin action in NYC that makes this such an addictive story. Belated Kudos.

Before you get too creative Mark Arbour, I do recall a certain April Fools stunt that forced a heart to heart with one of your CAP characters. Imagine how scary a heart to heart with someone with a peerage can be?

For me this latest chapter is quite the boon.. When I first read it I wanted to jump right in and confess my unwavering support to Mark's literary greatness and after stewing on it through the day as I went about my non GA related activities I still feel that same compulsion. Obviously what Jardines did was wrong, no one is ever gonna win an election on a Pro Rape platform. I was glad that we got to see Jardines' perspective and were offered an opportunity to empathize a little over what he was going through. Love, for all it's merits can be an acceptable form of madness; combine that with alcohol and one can easily make a very poor and life defining choice. Who hasn't made at least one questionable decision while drinking? Jardines is obviously remorseful; his actions cost him what he valued most, so much so he is willing to forfeit his life to appease Granger's desire for justice/vengeance. At last, some real insight as to why Arthur went coo coo bananas. I really struggled with him going nutso over missing Jardines monster tool. Monster tools are great and all but Arthur seemed to be a bit more together than that. Guilt, now that is a powerfully destructive force that can have all sorts of irrational side effects. In hindsight, Arthur probably feels he has so much to be guilty over: Cheating on Jardines Getting involved with Travers knowing how Granger felt about him Knowing his inherent inconstancy played a part in Jardines outrageous and unacceptable act Knowing that he is in part responsible for his lover being punished and sent away never to return I am sure in his guilt induced psychosis he piled on a few more things to punish himself over that before Holmquist helped him get a bit of perspective. Arthur is a great character, but he is a sneaky little slut (in a good way for the most part ). Anyone who loves him will have to accept that part of him or heart ache will ensue. Finally, we see Granger think about for the first time (at least the first time I recall) about what it would be like to have constancy in his life. I wonder how this will play out in light of Calvert's revelation with Gatling. Thanks again for a great chapter!

What an emotional ride to wake up to and read all before coffee. I had a suspicion that Arthur had more to do with it than he led Granger to believe, not that it makes it right but it sure explains why. I anxiously look forward to more. Continued thanks!

I honestly think that porn categorization should be offered as part of library sciences given the overwhelming and daunting amount of any kind of porn. Great job showing up Zupan's experience. Thanks for another fun chapter.

So much packed into 6,800 words. I love that we get to see JP's horned up rationalizations companioned by his courageous side as he risks everything to save a guy he hardly knows. Although JP is quick to write it off as thinking with his libido I believe it to be much more. I think he frees Peter not just because he is a little hottie, but because it could so easily have been him that is facing arrest. It lays the foundation that he will do just about anything to help someone he cares about and hints that JP isn't the Snow White angel his aloofness may lead some to believe. Thanks for the roller coaster.

Thinking about the latest chapter, I am extremely glad to find that Will is finally seeing the larger picture on the issue of cheating. I also think that Doc A brought up some valid/insightful points about why his relationships with John and Ryan have been distant. However, I do think that in John's case he's not that straight. It's not like Will is the only guy he has ever been with. John seems to be the sort of guy who likes to get off and if it can't be with a girl then a guy will do. He's young so I reserve the right to change my opinion but he seemed pretty happy to mess around with Will when he wasn't attached. I hope Will will remember this and not find himself as a rebound should things go south for John's relationship (or Ryan's for that matter). Unrelated to chapter 19...whatever happened to Alejandro? Why no toasted ravs on the epic St. Louis adventure? Are you saving them for Will's return to visit Mason?

Look at Will, growing up and internalizing life lessons. Yay! It was also nice to get this snippet of him and Robbie interacting on a personal level and see Will have Robbie's back. Thanks for the 4th of July treat.

How can the beginning of such an awesome tale only have two reviews? It's criminal, I say (or in this case write ). I am in the process of rereading and wanted to drop a review to note that I love the way that you have laid the foundation for JP and and Andre. Seeing Rosenberg's POV and then shifting right to JP hooking up is a lovely way to illustrate the dichotomy of brilliant scholar on a great path with the secret side of JP that he has to hide in order to keep on that great path.
