  1. That's one of the recommendations for remaining productive: keep your normal schedule, dress like you would for the office, etc. Still finding that it's harder to be productive in the late afternoon. We've been using Trillion -- which is the same thing we use when we're at the University, as the 4 of us have 3 different offices on 2 different floors.
  2. It's already 2F below or normal high for the day (66F). We're going to hit 90F today and break the prior record by 5F. Not a good sign for summer temps.
  3. In the Oklahoma City area, one of the first cases was a worker at an Amazon Distribution center so.... even ordering stuff isn't 100% "safe"
  4. I've seen that a few times; and seen more people using the sanitizing wipes they've provided for ages to wipe down the shopping cart handle.
  5. It's not "goofing off" if you're forbidden from doing something. 🤍
  6. Today will be my first full day working at home. SP will be 'home' [here] by noon to work the rest of the day, then will be here all day working for the foreseeable future. Think he'll probably keep me focused on actually working. lol Hope everyone has a good day of work -- either at work or from home. Thunderstorms overnight; joints ache.
  7. All four of us in my Department will be starting to work from home tomorrow. With all travel is being ended, no speakers coming in, no supplies being used and needed to be reordered... my workload is going to drop pretty quickly. I might actually get caught up on things.
  8. Not nearly enough as I should have done. Not ready for work tomorrow. Still going into the office, but we're staying in our respective offices and just communicating through IM.
  9. No, not everything can be foreseen, which is my viewpoint. We'll just deal with things openly and honestly as they arise - and they will arise. For him, I'm certain, there is more than a bit of fear involved even if he's not consciously aware of it -- it's been much much longer for him since he's lived with anyone [esp. anyone not just a room-mate] and he's never been in a long-term committed relationship.
  10. Hope everyone enjoys their day. We've had a 40F drop in temp from yesterday to today, and wind gusts this morning over 30mph. The hips are not amused. Had another conversation with SP last night about his spending more time here. I think he's worrying too much about how we will adjust; I think he thinks I'm not concerned enough. I just feel that we've talked about everything we know might be an issue, and those things that pop up unexpectedly, we'll deal with as they arise.
  11. Trying to convince your son that everything if normal and fine -- while acting in an entirely non-normal way -- isn't really going to work.
  12. 29 cases in this state so far, one confirmed death Classes at the University will remain online through the end of the semester. They're encouraging all staff to work from home, if possible.
  13. University is encouraging its workers to telecommute. Restaurants (unless they offer delivery or carry-out), bars, sports venues, etc. have been closed.
  14. Long day, but a good one. Wasn't able to see the parents but did spend some good time w. SP. State Board of Education voted to close all Oklahoma public schools starting March 17 until April 6.
  15. Try to set up an area that is as "office like" as possible. Glad you were able to bring another monitor home.
  16. Well... no going up to visit anyone. Mom called at 4:38am this morning to say her building had "gone crazy" and the majority of the tenants (or at least the loudest and most bullying) had decided they didn't want outside people in the building unless they were a nurse or similar person.
  17. Still not sure if we're going to drive up tonight or tomorrow morning. Part will depend on how bad SP's back is bothering him and how much my joints hurt. Driving up in the morning would let us skip the hotel, but would mean driving up in potentially heavy rain. Driving up tonight could mean getting there after dark -- I'm more than slightly nightblind and don't like driving. SP knows he's going to have to re-get his license, but he's been without it long enough it will mean retaking the tests all over again. We'll just have to weigh the +/- when he gets here tonight.
  18. Mom says the stores that do have supplied like that on hand up where she is are putting similar limits in place. We only have one store here in town that has any left. Someone mis-ordered the last time they paced an order with the warehouse. Manage has gone from really annoyed to very happy.
  19. Hope it goes well for you and hope they allow you to bring a monitor home. University is allowing staff the option of working from home if they are able. Some things I can do, some I can't, and most of what I could do would involve lugging large amounts of paperwork home. Luckily, at work I have my own office and can stay pretty isolated. We've had our first confirmed case in this county today. Only thing surprising about that -- given that this is home to a University -- is that it took so long.

The <beep> Bradford pears are blooming around here. the d**** town is filled with the things. I understand being afraid to sneeze or cough in public even though you know it's just allergies. <sigh>
  21. I must not of said in my original post -- he doesn't have a computer at home; desktop or laptop.
  22. It would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for him to do what needs to be done on a screen as small as his phone.
  23. [response to original poster already made by someone else - reminder to self to read all the posts before replying]
  24. Both major Universities in OK are almost certainly going to online-only classes for the two weeks after Spring Break (which is next week); one smaller college is extending thier break by one week (probably not the best idea) and one smaller college has already announced that all classes will be going online. No news at the moment as to what this means for staff. I can do most of my job from home, but not all of it -- and it would involve schlepping large amounts of paperwork from the office to the house. And SP doesn't have internet service at his house, so what is he supposed to do? We have several instructors that have no idea how they would adapt their in-class coursework to an online setting. All travel has been cancelled unless it's "essential" and multiple LARGE national conferences have been (and probably will be cancelled).
  25. Hm... read the chapter or go to bed so I can get to work on time tomorrow.... decisions decisions. <sigh> Will be responsible and read it tomorrow when I get home.
