  1. I don't, but I at least know I should be -- does that count for anything?
  2. Hope they find an answer that is easy to fix.
  3. Beginnings of a sinus infection -- which is much better than it could have been at the moment. Have an antibiotic and should feel better in a day or two.
  4. Viewing with Firefox on a desktop -- mine still appear centered.
  5. Love that movie! Going to bed. Temp is only 98.3F, but that's probably because I took a pain pill and an aspirin about an hour ago. Temp has dropped from 88F this afternoon to 65F now -- and we still have the 40mph+ wind gusts; those will continue all night. I have an apt. with a "walk-in" Urgent Care clinic in the morning, if my temp is still elevated. Not feeling the sinus congestion that I was this morning, so that has at least improved.
  6. @MacGreg - glad it was only a tree you lost. Wind gusts here are 43mph. When I took my temp at 4pm it was up to 99.3F; Dr called and suggested Afrin -- I reminded them that it causes my blood pressure to spike.
  7. Felt fine when I went to the Dr. yesterday [temp was a normal, for me, 97.3F]. Woke up this morning w. an earache and am now running a temp of 98.8F, which is about 1.5F above my normal average. Called the Dr. and left a msg; almost certain this is just a sinus infection, but we'll see what the Dr. wants to do.
  8. SP and I both woke up an hour early this morning. Depending on where you are in the state today the wind will gust from 70mph to 50mph as a cold front moves in. By mid afternoon we could have a wind-chill of 37F in the Panhandle and a heat index of 103F on the Eastern side; weather man was joking about "using all the colors" on the weather map for today.
  9. Good night all. Have a Dr. apt in the morning, then need to work on the impossible task of trimming the budget more than it can really be trimmed. I expected cuts -- anyone w. a brain knew they would be coming, esp. after the state announced a revenue failure -- but the size surprised me.
  10. You can have some of our sun. It was 83F at 9am this morning and 94F now, with no significant change of rain for the next week+ Woke up after a nap [hey -- it's hard to stay awake when there are two dogs snoring next to you] to find the temp inside was HOT. Batteries in the "smart" thermostat had died and the AC hadn't been coming on. Glad your mom was able to visit. SP and I need to drive up so see mine, but we won't be able to do that until the Fourth of July weekend.
  11. Heat Index here topped 100F today -- temps that are about a month ahead of schedule. I'll have to check out your fav food blogger
  12. This could probably be phrased better, so I hope what I'm intending to say comes through: Most of the "same on same violence" is because we all still self-segregate ourselves. And race is a social construct. If we were cats or dogs, there's not enough variation between humans to separate us into different breeds. Not to mention there were times in US history that Italians and Irish weren't considered "white".
  13. Love tea and coffee -- but can't have caffeine since starting my blood-pressure Rx; it makes my pulse race way more than it should.
  14. It's been a long long week, and a longer day. Drained, tired, and depressed.

    Sacrifice

As other people have said, this is a very emotional chapter. Tough to read, but worth it. Sometimes, it can be difficult to put into words what you really want to say -- that master-disc said more than Harlan's note did.
  16. Playing Civ VI, along with Endless Legend & Endless Space 2; looking forward to Humankind.
  17. Yep -- I'm not a people person but am finding that I'll be happy to be back in the office -- so will SP, who's used to larger screens and being able to print more things out. It's getting difficult to concentrate for the full work day and get stuff done [why I''m on here at lunch today]. Hope you get to feeling like your old normal soon.
  18. My partner is multiracial, but visibly more African-American than either white or Native American. I worry for him now more than I normally do. My heart hurts this morning. 😢

  20. It's been a long week, and I'm glad it's Friday.

    Trust

Huck is trying, and I think Rayne realizes that - but most of all, he's just happy to have his father back again. Loved Huck's realization that Elias has experiences beyond what he would have expected for a young man his age -- beyond what anyone should have at that age.
  22. Have a coworker who mentioned something similar -- all the disinfecting sprays were gone, but the gallon jugs of full-strength bleach were still there. Bleach + water + spray bottle = disinfecting spray; she didn't understand why people weren't doing that.
  23. SP and I bought promise / engagement rings today. His is 10mm wide - 6mm black band in the center, with two small silver bands on the outside, spaced slightly off the main ring; mine is a 6mm black band. It was good. We did not go to the cemetery today like I had originally thought I would. The last two years I had very strong "intuition" on what day and time I should be there. This year... nothing. That really upset me yesterday; then felt bad about being upset about it when SP and I are almost at our 6-month anniversary (the 27th -- which is also C's birthday -- which hasn't helped any). I think that lack of "intuition" was C's way of telling me to let him go. Not entirely of course, I'll always love him, but I can't look back and look forward too. Times, like yesterday, I still feel very torn by my emotions towards my Boy and my Darling; my past, and [hopefully] my future.
  24. Glad you're feeling better -- and that it's only a sinus infection.

Yep - nothing he said was a lie, but it wasn't the full truth either.
