Mom told me yesterday that one of the ladies in the independent living center she lives in made masks for all of the people on her floor. A mix of altruism & self-preservation, but at least she has a mask now.

Morning all -- Monday the 13th, much scarier than a Friday the 13th.

Love the story, but I hate to point out that Asher's family's Asian restaurant would have ended up with much less business. Asian restaurants on the whole have been hit harder than most others as customers stopped showing up in most places even before dine-in service was cancelled. Revenue in March for Chinese restaurants dropped by 20% and as much as 70% by early February. Attacks on people of Asian descent have also gone up dramatically over the last few weeks. You can always count on human's racist & xenophobic reactions to the unknown.

COVID-19 - my inner struggle and what i've done about it
Fae Briona commented on Mikiesboy's blog entry in Mikiesboy's Blog
Glad you're doing better, and think you for the link to the yoga program. With SP and the dogs moving in - and big girl still loosing her little doggie mind now and then - I've not been doing my exercises like I should be; the "lovely" spring weather isn't helping any.- 13 comments

Just noticed this - looking forward to binge reading it tomorrow when my joints are calm and I can think coherently.
-
We hit 91F today [avg high is 69F]; tomorrow it will be closer to normal at 65F but a 25F shift in temps is killing my joints. Stay healthy everyone. SP just left to go to work at a big-box store. I'm starting to worry for him (and me) every time he leaves for work. 😢

Changes - and I'll blame some of it on lunacy; full moon it this evening ant that always makes me agitated.
-
Agitated tonight and not sure why. Probably related to being woke up early this morning and being tired, but don't think that's all of it.

good morning all; going to get an early start on work today -- finding it hard to stay motivated, or at least I was last week

Last Thursday I was trying to cook something in the oven and was wondering why it wasn't cooking like it should be -- then looked in and noticed the lower element was shorting out and sparking like an arc wielder. They delivered the new range this afternoon. Brought it in, hooked it up, and were about to leave. Said, "just a moment" and turned the breaker back on. Good thing I did that because nothing happened. They double checked their installation of the new cord onto the range and it was ok. Only thing they can think of is that when the element shorted it fried the plug; prongs on the old plug aren't burnt so that was a bit confusing, and they said it was a good thing I noticed because it should have flipped the breaker but didn't. Or -- as I'm typing this out -- perhaps it did and the breaker just isn't resetting. <sigh> electricity is out of my wheelhouse So, tomorrow I get to call an electrician, and hopefully find one working.

It also shows David's maturity, and ability to see past the lies to the "why" of things. That's something not all adults have, or at least use.

Hm.. why do none of the tenants know about the attics? They would have to be interconnected for him to be able to move from apt to apt

Binge reading from chapter 3 to chapter 7 [I should be working]. Loving it so far.

Hope the connection issues get fixed. Not sure what dinner tonight will be -- Thursday evening the lower element of the oven burnt out. Was wondering why the pork tenderloin wasn't cooking through, and the next time I looked there was a spot sparking like an arc wielder. Needless to say, I flipped the circuit breaker real quick. As my brother said, I could have just replaced the element but I was wanting to replace the stove anyway. We'll have to get it into the garage tomorrow morning and I'll need to move the car. Depending on who delivers they'll either just leave it outside or actually bring it in and install it -- it's up to their discretion at the moment if they enter a customer's house. We got SP's desk set up this morning and I need to get some work done this afternoon [and need to start soon].

"Spring air" for me means horrific levels of pollen, and sinus congestion ☹️

They seem to be slowly adjusting. Yesterday was better with the barking. We got some "calming treats" for occasional use.

Wind chill was below freezing all day today; high's in the upper 80's F by early next week.
-
Lovely here today, but a cold front is moving in and the wind chill tomorrow won't get above freezing.

Day was touch-n-go, then the younger one (who is also the larger one) settled down and actually fell asleep next to my chair while I was working. That lasted until SP got up about 40-min ago to go to the restroom. That startled her awake and she started barking at him, and when went in when he got out she was already riled up and actually snapped at me. 😢 He's sure she'll adjust, and I hope she does. I'd hurt so much if this caused things between us to fall apart.

SP and I moved the dogs over yesterday evening -- it was a long long night. We're sure they'll adjust at some point, but it could be awhile before that happens. Wish us luck.

Working From Home Is Different
Fae Briona commented on mollyhousemouse's blog entry in Mollyhousemouse's Stash
I can relate to some of that. I'm finding the chair I use at my computer is great for shorter periods, but not for an 8-hr day. Our office normal communicated through IM so that's not changed much -- though there are some things that you really want to discuss in person and not through email or IM. Getting up and moving about is something I'm not doing as much and need to remember to do. Good luck!- 8 comments
