The official "doctor speak" findings showed up on the patient portal this morning: "Retroverted acetabulum are noted bilaterally [the hip "socket"; this we already knew, it's the 1st of the 10 remaining bone deformations in my legs]. There is mild uncovering of bilateral femoral heads [the "ball" at the top of the femur that sits into the socket; that indicates arthritis but we knew that too]." So...no idea how much new information is really there or how useful it actually was. Will have to wait for the Dr to translate it into common English.

Was sunny and warm yesterday and will be today and most of the week; on the down side, we also have rain moving in and at least three days this week have a chance for severe storms. The joy of Spring in Oklahoma. 😐

Oh the fun "meet the family" visit. 😶 Hope it goes well. SP gets to meet mine next weekend, but it's not quite as traumatic in your 50's as it is in your teens & 20's.

Got x-rays of the hips this morning to see how much the arthritis has progressed. Good thing I wasn't hurting before I went in as I was definitely hurting afterwards (turn this way, twist that way, <sigh>). Hope everyone has a great Friday, and a wonderful weekend.

long week, and it's only half over

Glad that Troy is finally able to start to grieve - he's been so busy just trying to survive, he's not been able to do that before now.

Loving my re-read of this. Glad you decided to tighten it up and repost it.

Hope the new routines work @mollyhousemouse

I'll have to try the oatmeal one day when I'm feeling adventurous. SP swung by last night for a bit -- was the 3rd day in a row I left work early because of extremely high pain levels. Stayed home today - seemed like the best idea. Body -- not to mention my sanity -- couldn't handle another 6 pain pill day. Being slightly naugty tonight. Have a prosciutto wrapped maple/balsamic marinated butterflied porkchop cooking, boiled down the marinade for a sauce, then steamed some thin cut carrots and put them in a maple glaze w. a touch of cognac. Should be good [I hope].

Blackberry mead sounds pretty good. Glad the CEO visit went well SP is working late again tonight -- deadlines to meet and the person who should be helping has been "sick" for two weeks.

I hope he remembers his peace and pleasure when he wakes, and doesn't panic

Love this chapter. Good that they are opening up and that Etienne is sharing some of his past.

Love to both of you, today and always.

This is... The poem really speaks to me today. New memories last night and today with SP that I will always treasure, but simultaneously there is heartache and loss from C being gone.

It was a lovely evening. Unfortunately, we won't see each other this weekend -- his 2nd job scheduled him from 8am through 10PM on both Saturday and Sunday. The flowers he sent me showed up at work today: one dozen long-stemmed red roses. 🥰 They're lovely. Mine to him showed up this morning at his office just before the ones he sent showed up at mine. He said they brought a smile to his face and "warmed [his] heart". Told him I was leaving early because of the joints (yet more wild swings in temps in a 24-hr period); told him when I got home that even though I hurt quite a bit, looking at the flowers and thinking of him still makes me smile. 😄

Nervous tonight. SP has to work tomorrow evening at his second job so our Valentine's date is tonight. Shaved my beard down close -- it hasn't been this tight in decades -- because he thought the longer one I had made me look older (probably did). He knows how long I've worn it that way and that this is only something I would be doing for him. Will leave here in about 30 min to go pick him up. Much more nervous than I thought I would be. Made sure to have his card and box of chocolates in the car; his flowers will be delivered to his office tomorrow. No idea where we are going to eat -- he arranged all of the evening plans.

I've been hurting all day. We had a cold front move through yesterday that dropped the temp by 10F in about an hour and we went from rain with a bit of sleet (and the odd snowflake) at 4pm to sleet with a bit of rain just 30 minutes later. Not coming down that heavy -- just enough to be bother some and make the joints really unhappy.

Most people in the US are much closer to being in Troy's situation than they realize -- most people only have, at most, enough in savings to cover 3-month's of necessities before they would be on the streets.

Either way you'll loose. 😉

Dad is getting settled into the new assisted living facility. We've been told he could be confused for a month or so still. Went up yesterday to help my brother sort through the remaining things in dad's old apartment in the independent living center - piles for me, piles for him, piles to move, piles to donate. Extremely depressing. Like dividing up someones things after they've died - thought I guess there is a bit less emotion to doing it now. Brother has finally admitted that dad is 98 and is pretty much done with things. I really don't see him hanging around much longer because he has no real desire to do so. Will need to try to go back up in a couple of weekends, and maybe take SP with me this time.

We got 3.4 inches of snow; parts of Oklahoma City broke record snowfall by 200%; campus was cancelled at 4:30am. We may get a dusting more later this evening. On the upside, SP came over last night in anticipation this would happen and we had a lovely evening [and morning].

Seriously considered last year getting a Vote for Cthulhu yard sign last year. Slogan was, "Why vote for the lesser evil?". This year seems to be, "Big apocalyptic change."

It's going to be nearly 80F today (almost 30F above normal) then nearly 20F below normal by Wed. and snowing. <sigh> Joints are already unhappy. And my early-sprouting daffodills are going to freeze.
