  1. I have to disagree completely. There is nothing insidious about nationalism in this, my adopted, country. It's about as blatant as you can get! Of course, from George's perspective, this would be the anniversary of the day that His Majesty lost one of his most profitable colonies.

    Chapter 14

This chapter was both awkward and satisfying. I liked it! Whatever Caroline's motives, she clearly has a pattern of using sex to get what she wants, including when she manipulated George into marrying her. Her prior attempts to seduce Freddie appear to be more of the same, and one wonders about her reasons for initiating the affair with Gloucester. Happy Friday! :
  3. I said it was boring.
  4. Apologies for being pedantic, but HIV is not present in saliva, although there is a low risk of transmission if an infected person has sores in the mouth or bleeding gums, as blood can mix with the saliva. Nor does it pass easily through intact oral mucosa (the tissue inside the mouth). The greatest risk from oral sex (although still pretty low) is if an HIV-positive man ejaculates in your mouth, especially if you have mouth sores or other breaks in the tissue. Absorption of medications through the tissues of the mouth is by a different mechanism. Sorry, that got a bit longwinded and boring.
  5. Technically, Alex Granger is Freddie's legacy. And we know that Freddie was not always a gentleman. Also, I can't imagine any of George's descendants' being described as boring in bed.

    Chapter 35

Ah, drama...how do I love thee? That said, as drama goes, this was pretty damn startling. I definitely did not see that coming! It throws a new spin on the whole barebacking with "trusted friends" culture that is prevalent among your characters. I think Wade is going to discover that being in a relationship with one's twin, English or otherwise, can get pretty boring...kind of like being in a relationship with oneself. So, the new 4-day posting schedule seems to be working pretty well. I'm hoping you won't be able to resist the allure of a major holiday, though. After all, who doesn't love a few 4th of July fireworks?

    Chapter 14.

I'm really enjoying this story. I read in an earlier review that there is an earlier, related story posted somewhere. If you're not able to post it here, would you be willing to point me to where it is? I'd really like to read the backstories of some of the characters.

    Chapter 12

Interesting revelation and well worth waiting for. Building the suspense until we all felt George's frustration was a masterful bit of narration. While George is no doubt vexed with Caroline right now, I can't help but think that she may occasionally be invited down to the baths during future visits by Cavendish or Treadway.

    Chapter 32

And so it begins...you promised drama and, voila, drama! I love how that works. The slow way to Paris is definitely prettier. On the other hand, the slow(er) and really fun (especially for a hot, single gay guy) way includes a stop in Brighton.
  10. It always astonishes me that a guinea (21 shillings) was equivalent to 1 pound and 1 shilling. What an impractical unit of currency! (Not that there was anything practical about predecimalization British currency.) Apparently the guinea was a better class of currency than the pound. According to this website http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/moneyold.htm, "A guinea was considered a more gentlemanly amount than £1. You paid tradesmen, such as a carpenter, in pounds but gentlemen, such as an artist, in guineas."

    Chapter 31

So, still laying the groundwork for the upcoming fireworks...and I appear to be on my third metaphor to describe it. Do we have another holiday (real or imagined) to look forward to this weekend? (Of course, there's Friday to look forward to first.) I sense that you're setting up Alex Danvers (almost left off his last name which would have been confusing for a chapter with two characters named 'Alex') as a villain with a vendetta against Brad. Hmmm.

    Chapter 30

I enjoyed this chapter much as one enjoys the long, slow climb up a very tall rollercoaster... It'll be interesting to see how Freddie and Davina's descendants turned out. Also, nicely snubbed, Sir Richard.

    Chapter 1

    Loved it! Thanks.

    Chapter 11

So, here I am patiently(!) waiting for Father's Day, and you manage to sneak in an entirely different end-of-week treat. I loved the King's belowdecks excursion and poor Kingsdale's horror at having to dance with a princess. Caroline's behavior continues to intrigue; her surprise at George's not wanting her around suggests she feels she hasn't done anything fundamentally wrong.

    Chapter 29

Other than Will's getting roped into a society ball and some hot(!) sex between Brad and Sean, that was exceedingly calm. Looking forward to the inevitable storm.
  16. I've never had a really good reason to look forward to Father's Day before.
  17. Believe me, you're not the only one laughing here.
  18. I don't really get the point of hating a fictional character. Don't y'all have better things to hate with your time, like baby-seal murderers, Twilight novels, and people who talk in movie theaters?
  19. Random interjection regarding my most recent review: "dispensable" is a real word. The one I was trying to use was "dispendable". Damn spell checker and its inability to accept novel vocabulary! :-/

    Chapter 28

Best Flag Day ever! Brad is consistently the funniest CAP narrator. I loved the anecdotes around the disastrous date with Ben, not to mention the commiseration with Sean on the awful porno kissing. And "sleuthiness"! You are totally owning that made-up word. I have one of my own that I am trying to introduce to the common lexicon: dispensable. It's somewhere between "disposable" and "expendable". Not made to be thrown away, exactly, but you're not heartbroken if it happens.
  21. Well, presumably Caroline does.
  22. Addendum to my review on the latest chapter: Shiny ship and new uniforms for everyone! Yay!

    Chapter 10

It's great to have George back, and with so much personal and political intrigue. Thanks!

    Chapter 27

As much as Will is my favorite narrator, the conversation between Brad and Steph was by far my favorite part of this chapter. There was so much dry humor packed into the few lines of dialogue. Steph and JJ as Prussians...brilliant! I also really liked that you provided the outcome (or interim outcome) of the drama through the relatively objective perspective of Brad, Frank JP and Steph. That was an excellent narrative decision. I'm also going to admit that I am confused about Flag Day, and not just because it's a holiday that appears to have escaped my attention during the 25+ years I have spent in the US. I did just discover, through the magic of the interwebs, that we have a newly declared Flag Week that begins tomorrow, but I could not find any country that celebrates Flag Day on June 8. I did learn that Peru is honoring its flag today, and Sweden did likewise yesterday.

    Chapter 1

Interesting premise...I look forward to seeing where you take it. Incidentally, there is something a bit off with your formatting; in the mobile version, the words are running off the right side of the page.
