I've watched too many gangster movies. Let me plug The Irishman. De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci are awesome in it.

I LOVE the reactions my stories evoke from you!

If 40 is the new 30, nasty must be the new nice. Santa's gonna be confused. Thanks for reading and the comment, Mike.

Got it. Short chapters if I post weekdays, long one if on weekends! Grandpa promised to take care of the family, Dante gets the bowling alley, let's wait a week for Tony's next challenge.

As long as I'm not told my stories make no sense and my grammar sucks, I consider it a win.

Thanks, Will. Let's make sure readers ralize I don't object to their comments, no matter what's said. And I honestly do treat complaints about short chapters as a compliment. If someone had told me 5 years ago I would have a cadre of readers dissecting my stories and asking for more, I would have asked them to pass the doobie. It's extremely flattering.

Chapter length's the theme of the day. Longer ones are coming.

Your mind's in the gutter! Here, I'll scoot over so you can have a seat.

I did mention this story's an expanded version of an old flash piece, right? We've met Tony and Dante before.

Funny thing is those rabbit holes have been created without the aid of chemical substances. Could you imagine what I would write if I didn't so it while sober early in the day? LOL

Mann's been hammering me on dialogue recently! He didn't edit this story, but the one he's working on has seen me revise more lines and add more speech tags than I have in a long time. I sometimes jot down things I hear people say in person or on TV. I actually have a few lines someone said to me in a bus in Albuquerque a few years ago I still haven't been able to use. The guy made a comment on my tats before lifting his shirt to show me a few he had done while in prison. The things one hears if we pay attention. LOL

I noticed you read chapter 2, so you should have a better idea of what Don Martellini wants.
  13. Can EPA rules on wetlands be discussed outside the Pit? Asking for a friend, of course.

We're at the bargaining stage, eh? LOL Read my response to Mr. Will's comment. Can't have it both ways, there's only so much I can produce, and more importantly, there's only so much I can push editors. Those are scarce; i wouldn't mind having a couple more qualified ones to work with.

When I've taken a long hiatus from posting in the past, readers have peppered me with requests for more stories. I refuse to do as other authors and either abandon stories they've begun posting before they were completed, or share chapters with long intervals between them. Whenever I publish a story, it's entirely written. I thought I'd reached a compromise by writing a few short stories and sharing shorter chapters on a more frequent basis. It seems the approach isn't satisfying either. I'm in a quandary. Frequent short chapters, or longer ones with down time between stories? To be, or not to be?

Cliffhangers? And here I thought my work was a cliffie-free zone. Details about the offer coming up next chapter.

If the most frequent complaint about my work continues to be length, I'll take it.

Thanks for lumping my little story with the good ones. Word count's tricky, but I'll strive to increase it in the next story.

Muito obrigado. I'm always open to corrections and learning. Errors are bound to happen when you have amateur authors and editors, but I'm pleased so few are usually found in my work. The English language is broad, but the average vocabulary of most of us isn't quite as varied. Using esoteric words now and then helps keep us on our toes.

“He’s waiting for you.” The curt greeting was standard for Marco. Officially an assistant, we all knew his real job was head of security for our grandfather. “Oh, hey, Marco. Good to see you too. How’s the wife? Everything okay with the kids?” The face most would describe as carved from granite did not react. My attempts at drawing him out rarely elicited a response; the man was focused on his job at all time. His eyes were always in motion, searching for a threat. He turned them on me for

@LJCC I googled slitted again when I read alligatored in someone's story. Since I felt I'd used mine in a new way, I wanted to find out about both. Turns out this is part of the definition. And here I thought I was being original. form (one's eyes) into slits; squint. past tense: slitted; past participle: slitted
  23. WolfM mentioned they try to do what they can to help animals but the situation's worse than whatever we see on TV.
  24. It's always scintillating to use @Myr's word-of-the-day in a story.
  25. LOL I was surprised the first time I was unable sign on to GA on my tablet while at Denny's and Best Buy. I guess GA gets lumped in with the 'fun' websites.
