Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 23 - Feb. 29)
Carlos Hazday commented on wildone's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I've done that too! The story won't be posted for months, but I've sprinkled words of the day throughout. -
US Army Ranger Sergeant Bradley Thomas Kennedy lost his legs when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. Ranger chronicles the first couple of years following the IED incident. Led by his best friend, CJ, The Squad rallies to support Brad's efforts to reintegrate into civilian life. Will he recover sufficiently from his physical and mental wounds to lead a fulfilling life? Will he get the girl in the end?

January 2020 “So, what’s your story?” Brad could not help chuckling. “Right to the point, eh? I like that.” “Why pussyfoot around?” The man ran a hand over his shaved head and pointed towards the right. “We’re going there. Those legs of yours tell me you’ve seen real action. You may have left your original ones behind, but I’m certain you brought back a new outlook on life like most of us did. Life’s too short to waste our time with bullshit.” “Yep. I have less patien

March 2022 “And the Oscar goes to… A Home for Warriors.” Loud applause forced the presenter to raise his voice. “Brad Kennedy, Brett Davenport, Cesar Abelló, Cesar Abelló, Jr., and Owen Liston, producers. Anne Maki, director.” The audience roared its approval. From the initial private showings, to the documentary’s official premiere in Washington, D.C., through its subsequent airing on Amazon’s Prime, the film had garnered critical acclaim and popular support. “FUCKING A!”

I'm thinking of turning chapter one into a prologue. Any objections to having two chapters go live at the same time? Seems the first one in every double post always gets fewer reactions/comments. Feels like I'm taking a pay cut after doing double the amount of work.- 18 replies

Thanks, Jeff! My goal was to lure a couple of new readers while bringing clarity to a fuzzy spot in CJ's series. Hopefully, new readers will like get a taste for my style without having to tackle a long series as their introduction to my work.

Some people have a sense of entitlement that makes them believe they can do as they please. Someone standing up to them often surprises those bullies.

Thanks for sticking with me and reading, bud!

Yep. Short stories are supposed to be short.

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 16 - Feb. 22)
Carlos Hazday commented on wildone's blog entry in Gay Authors News
That would make a great thread. What GA authors/members have you met? I missed my chance at dinner with @Valkyrie because I had tickets to Springsteen on Broadway. Sorry again, Val, but The Boss will always win. Even over my family. -
Tell me about it...

PRIME opened back in 2012, within a year it was a popular NYC bar with both gays and the other type of people. In a previous story, I described Champagne Jello shots. Someone made them for a NYE midnight toast. Prior to writing, I sampled. Vodka gives them the good kick. For this one, I combined a traditional Champagne cocktail with the Jello shot recipe. The whole idea is to get people fucked up enough they'll have a good time and come back for more.

You forgot about the wire shelving... Those will not be the bar nuts served at PRIME!

I kept reaching down to ensure mine were safe while I wrote the scene. It was either a hammer or a screwdriver.

I attribute to the weather. Brazilians have always struck me as sensual and sexual people. The macho attitude's still there but feels more relaxed.
-
You scared of the moderators? I was for a long time LOL

There'll be a companion piece to this story recounting the creation of WOOF, the gym my characters frequent a couple of blocks away from PRIME. The Russians will pop up in that one.

That's from an online dictionary/university.

@Theo Wahls Thank you! And I'm very happy you've figured out what I'm doing. I wanted a break from having CJ as the main character, but everytime I thought of a story, one of the existing characters jumped as the ideal protagonist. That's how Singer came about. Ranger, which starts posting next weekend, stars another one of the guys. And the one I'm working on now has CJ's dads as the MCs. And since now we have PRIME set, later this year I'll tackle the gym. Look for WOOF sometime this fall.

She's been missing today. I'm working on a chapter with 4 or 5 closely related scenes flowing into one another. I know what they are and have the first one done. I started the second one and got stuck. I know what I have to say but I'm diddling around because I'm not sure what should go in 2 vs 4. 3's not a problem. Oh well, maybe after I get done replying to comments I'll try again.
